We build platforms and optimization capabilities that reduce cost, improve service and unlock new growth through AI and automation.\nWhat you'll do:\nAs Group Director of Software Engineering - Transportation, you will lead engineering leaders and teams spanning Stride, Optimization, Simulation, Finance, B2B Enablement and AI Strategy. You will:\nSet the long-term platform and engineering strategy for first- and middle-mile Transportation across segments and geographies.\nOwn architectural governance and key technology decisions; modernize systems while improving platform scale and reliability.\nShape roadmaps with business and product leaders, managing enterprise trade-offs and end-to-end Transportation solutions.\nAdvance intelligent planning, routing, load optimization and asset utilization to improve cost, speed and service.\nDefine and deliver Transportation’s AI strategy, embedding automation, AI/ML and agentic capabilities with measurable impact.\nEnable B2B, RDC-to-Customer, Ship with Walmart and Marketplace growth through reusable Transportation capabilities.\nDevelop engineering leaders, architects and teams; strengthen succession, talent and a product-oriented engineering culture.\nDrive engineering and operational excellence through reliability, performance, delivery speed, technical-debt reduction and automation.\nInfluence senior Supply Chain, Operations, Product and Engineering stakeholders, navigating ambiguity and building alignment.\nWhat you'll bring:\nExperience with enterprise platforms, distributed systems, architecture, data, optimization, and AI.\nSenior engineering leadership experience managing directors and senior managers in complex, large-scale technology organizations.\nDeep understanding of transportation management, logistics, supply chain systems or network optimization.\nExperience defining enterprise platform strategies and modernizing distributed systems, cloud-native services and integrations.\nStrong technical judgment in architecture, scalability, reliability, DevOps, system rationalization, microservices and CI/CD.\nExperience delivering business value through optimization, AI/ML, automation and responsibly deployed agentic systems.\nAbility to influence executives, navigate competing priorities, and balance business outcomes with sound engineering decisions.\nProven track record of hiring, coaching and growing high-performing engineering teams and technical leaders.\nExcellent executive communication, stakeholder management and data-driven decision-making focused on measurable outcomes.\nBS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 15+ years of industry experience.\nAbout Walmart Global Tech\nImagine working in an environment where one line of code can make life easier for hundreds of millions of people.
