What you'll do:

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Lead the design and architecture of scalable, resilient, and high-performance data platforms on Google Cloud (GCP).
• Define and implement data engineering best practices, including data modeling, pipeline orchestration, and data governance.
• Architect solutions using Big Data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop ecosystem, and distributed systems.
• Ensure alignment to enterprise data strategy, including data products, SSoT, and platform standardization.

Engineering & Delivery

• Drive end-to-end data pipeline development using Scala, Spark, and modern ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Lead development of batch and real-time data processing pipelines leveraging GCP services like BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage.
• Ensure high code quality, performance optimization, and scalability across data systems.
• Oversee production stability, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Team Leadership & People Management

• Manage and mentor a high-performing team of data engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and technical excellence.
• Drive talent development, performance management, and succession planning.
• Promote a collaborative environment across cross-functional teams including Product, Architecture, and Business stakeholders.

Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with senior leadership to translate business priorities into data engineering roadmaps.
• Lead discussions with stakeholders on architecture decisions, trade-offs, and technology adoption.
• Drive platform modernization initiatives, migration strategies, and cloud adoption programs.

Agent Mindset & Innovation

• Demonstrate an agentic approach -proactively identifying gaps, removing blockers, and driving measurable outcomes.
• Leverage automation, AI-driven workflows, and intelligent data pipelines to enhance efficiency and scalability.
• Champion data-driven decision-making and continuous innovation within the organization.

What you'll bring:

• 12+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Big Data, or related domains.
• Strong hands-on expertise in:
  • Scala and Apache Spark
  • Big Data technologies (Hadoop ecosystem, distributed computing frameworks)
• Deep experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP):
  • BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer (Airflow)
• Proven track record in designing and architecting large-scale data platforms.
• Strong experience in data modeling, ETL/ELT frameworks, and pipeline orchestration.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
• Experience with data product architecture and data monetization use cases.
• Knowledge of real-time streaming technologies (Kafka, Pub/Sub, etc.).
• Exposure to multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
• Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience in retail, e-commerce, or large-scale enterprise data platforms.
• Strong system design and problem-solving skills

• High degree of ownership, accountability, and proactiveness (agent mindset)
• Scalable and performant data platforms delivered on GCP
