Walmart is a multinational retail corporation operating a vast global chain of hypermarkets, discount department stores, and grocery stores. Founded in 1962 by Sam Walton and headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, the company is one of the world's largest businesses by revenue and a dominant force in brick-and-mortar and online retail. Today, it integrates its physical store network with a growing e-commerce ecosystem, offering low prices on groceries, general merchandise, and digital services to millions of customers daily.

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Step into a highly visible leadership role where you’ll help protect the people, operations, and assets of one of Walmart’s large-scale grocery distribution centers.

Supporting an approximately 800,000-square-foot facility with nearly 950 associates and operations running 24/7, 365 days a year, you’ll serve as the facility’s leader and subject-matter expert for Asset Protection, safety, security, and compliance. Your scope extends across the entire property-from the distribution center itself to transportation and the broader operation.

As a member of the facility leadership team, you’ll partner closely with the General Manager, HR, Maintenance, and other leaders to identify risk, solve problems at their root cause, strengthen compliance, and continuously improve how the facility operates.

You’ll lead two salaried managers and a broader team of approximately 16-18 hourly Asset Protection associates. Success will require more than AP expertise. You’ll need to earn trust, develop other leaders, influence across functions, and create a culture where safety, accountability, and continuous improvement are part of how the team operates every day.

What You'll Do

  • Own Asset Protection, safety, security, and compliance across the facility, serving as the go-to leader for risks involving the building, property, transportation, associates, and operations.
  • Lead and develop a 24/7 Asset Protection organization, including two salaried managers and approximately 16-18 hourly associates, setting clear expectations and building a team capable of supporting the operation around the clock.
  • Lead investigations and protect facility assets, recognizing and investigating security breaches, theft, shortages, vandalism, policy violations, and other operational risks; conducting integrity interviews; and communicating findings and recommended actions to facility leadership.
  • Strengthen physical security and access controls by supporting procedures that prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas and overseeing key security and emergency systems, including alarms, metal detectors, surveillance equipment, and closed-circuit television.
  • Serve as the facility’s compliance subject-matter expert, helping leaders understand and execute against company standards and applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct security and compliance audits, identifying exceptions, maintaining Asset Protection records, and ensuring gaps are remediated in accordance with Supply Chain standards.
  • Build a safer, stronger operation by analyzing incidents, audit findings, loss trends, and operational data to identify risk, determine root causes, and implement sustainable countermeasures.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying process gaps and strengthening controls, workflows, and operating practices rather than simply responding to individual incidents.
  • Build trusted partnerships across the leadership team, working closely with the General Manager, HR Manager, Maintenance Manager, and other salaried leaders to solve complex facility-wide challenges.
  • Create a culture of safety and accountability by teaching, training, and developing leaders and associates to recognize risk, make better decisions, and take ownership of maintaining a safe, secure, and compliant workplace.
  • Use data to influence decisions, translating reports, audits, trends, and operational information into clear recommendations for facility leadership.
  • Support critical issues in a 24/7, 365-day operation, remaining available to provide leadership and direction when significant facility needs require escalation.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to set expectations, build accountability, coach performance, and create a positive team culture.
  • Experience leading other leaders, ideally including salaried direct reports, with a track record of developing talent and building leadership capability.
  • Experience in Asset Protection, safety, security, compliance, risk management, operations, or a related discipline, with the judgment to balance risk mitigation with the needs of the business.
  • A root-cause and continuous-improvement mindset, with the ability to move beyond immediate symptoms, identify systemic issues, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Strong partnership and influencing skills, including the ability to earn credibility with senior facility leaders and drive action across teams you may not directly lead.
  • A teach, train, and develop mindset, with the ability to make complex safety, compliance, and AP expectations understandable and actionable for others.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate risks, recommendations, and priorities to audiences ranging from hourly associates to senior facility leadership.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, complex environment, where priorities can shift quickly and sound judgment is essential.
  • Experience in warehousing, distribution, logistics, or supply chain operations is valuable, but not required. Leaders from other complex Asset Protection or safety environments who can quickly learn the operation can also be successful.
  • A willingness to support an around-the-clock operation, recognizing that leadership needs may occasionally arise outside traditional business hours.
