The role focuses on the design, support and optimization of on-premise and cloud-based database platforms that enable critical business and operational processes. Working closely with teams across multiple regions and lines of business, the senior DBRE helps ensure reliable, scalable and secure data services while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across the enterprise.\nResponsibilities:\nArchitect, manage, and optimize enterprise Microsoft SQL Server database platforms across on-premise and cloud environments.\nLead database performance tuning, high-availability, and disaster recovery strategies across on-premise and cloud environments.\nPlan, implement, and monitor backup and recovery procedures for SQL Server databases.\nPerform database capacity planning and work closely with infrastructure teams to forecast and provision resources.\nAct as a database technology Subject Matter Expert (SME), partnering with technology stakeholders and clients to resolve issues and recommend platform improvements.\nAutomate provisioning, scaling, backups, and routine operations using infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools (Terraform, Ansible, Chef).\nTroubleshoot complex system and database issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions.\nCollaborate with application developers, cloud architects, and DevOps teams to deploy reliable and scalable systems.\nMentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and contribute to knowledge sharing through documentation and system diagrams.\nParticipate in CI/CD pipelines to integrate database changes with automated testing and deployment.\nImplement monitoring, observability, and logging strategies to proactively detect and resolve issues.\nArchitect high-availability, disaster recovery, and scaling strategies to ensure business continuity.\nCreate detailed system diagrams, performance analyses, and architecture documentation for leadership review.\nRequired Qualifications:\n7+ years' experience managing enterprise Microsoft SQL Server database environments.\nExpert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2016-2022.\nExperience with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).\nStrong T-SQL and PowerShell scripting skills.\nExperience leading complex SQL Server upgrades, migrations, and platform modernization initiatives.\nDeep expertise with SQL Server high-availability and disaster recovery technologies including Always On Availability Groups (AG), Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), and Log Shipping.\nStrong experience implementing and managing SQL Server security features including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Row-Level Security, Auditing, and Vulnerability Assessment.\nAdvanced performance tuning skills with proficiency in execution plan analysis, Query Store, Extended Events, Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), and workload diagnostics.\nExperience developing long-term capacity models, forecasting growth trends, and driving infrastructure rightsizing initiatives.\nExperience with enterprise database monitoring and performance management tools.\nMicrosoft Windows Server administration experience.\nStrong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid architectures.\nDeep experience with automation, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code.\nProven ability to troubleshoot, tune, and optimize complex database workloads.\nExcellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and executive stakeholders.\nNice to Have:\nWorking knowledge of Oracle or PostgreSQL administration and support.\nExpertise in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, Mesos, DockerEE).\nEducation:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or
