Lead QA Engineer

This is a Hybrid role working from our Sofia office.

In this pivotal role, you'll act as a trusted advisor and mentor across multiple squads - balancing speed with quality, championing team wellbeing, and shaping our overarching quality assurance practices. You will have the platform to innovate with modern testing practices while guiding senior stakeholders and nurturing talent across our vibrant community
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a QA Engineer at Waracle, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and care behind the digital products we build. Operating at an independent, impactful level, you will design and run thoughtful test journeys based on project requirements. If you enjoy collaborating across teams, building out automated testing frameworks, and helping welcome and support new team members, you will thrive in this role.
Establishing robust test strategies across squads and facilitating risk workshops to ensure cross-platform consistency.
Defining squad-level automation strategies and setting quality gates within CI/CD pipelines to champion high engineering standards.
Championing our Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) strategy across performance, security, and accessibility.
Establishing observability standards so systems are easily debuggable and testable in live production environments.
Leading QA workstreams with a focus on delivery outcomes, quality metrics, and, above all, team wellbeing.
Applying commercial acumen to advise stakeholders on thoughtful trade-offs between speed and quality.
Researching and driving emerging practices, such as AI-assisted testing, to help solve complex team and organizational challenges.
Mentoring and coaching engineers, representing QA in client and governance forums, and continuously evolving our practice standards.

Proven strategic leadership experience supporting multiple QA squads or workstreams.
Deep expertise in setting automation architectural patterns and clear coding standards.
Demonstrated experience defining enterprise-grade observability and comprehensive NFR strategies.
Strong commercial awareness with a track record of balancing QA investment with business value.
Exceptional stakeholder management and empathetic, open communication skills.
