Senior Frontend Engineer (World of Warships)

Job Overview

We’re excited to invite you to join the World of Warships team at Wargaming, where we’re looking for a Senior Frontend Developer. 

As a member of the World of Warships team, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with a talented and passionate group of professionals, contribute to creating engaging and seamless experiences for our players, and make a meaningful impact on the direction and success of the game.

What will you do?

• Own and develop frontend/UI systems within the product and web ecosystem, including reusable components, UI patterns, frameworks, tools, and shared frontend solutions.

• Develop and maintain interactive web experiences, including event pages, web adventures, game mechanics, mini-games, widgets, portal modules, and other content-driven experiences.

• Translate UI/UX designs and wireframes into robust, responsive implementations that accurately reflect the intended user experience.

• Develop frontend solutions using React, TypeScript, Composition API, and related tooling, while maintaining and gradually improving existing vanilla JavaScript code.

• Work with REST APIs, and data-driven interfaces, implementing asynchronous client-server interactions and dynamic content.

• Implement complex animations and interactive mechanics, with a strong focus on UX, responsiveness, and frontend performance.

• Optimize animation-heavy and mobile-heavy interfaces, including asset loading, lazy loading, rendering, browser behavior, and overall frontend performance.

• Ensure reliable functionality across devices, browsers, platforms, regional versions, and language configurations.

• Investigate and resolve complex frontend issues, including UI behavior, rendering, input handling, browser compatibility, integrations, performance, and production stability.

• Refactor and improve existing and legacy codebases, maintaining high standards of production quality, maintainability, and scalability.

• Collaborate with UX/UI designers using Figma to verify implementations, discuss technical feasibility, and prepare or export assets when required.

• Participate in technical and design discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions, contributing to engineering standards and best practices.

• Document frontend architectures, APIs, component behavior, integrations, and technical guidelines.

• Mentor less experienced engineers on frontend development, UI systems, debugging, performance, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with designers, game and engine engineers, QA, production, product, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality interactive experiences.

What are we looking for?

• 5+ years of commercial frontend development experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend technologies.

• 3+ years of practical experience with React.

• Strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and SCSS.

• Strong understanding of component-based UI architecture, responsive design, rendering behavior, and cross-browser compatibility.

• Experience developing reusable UI systems, components, patterns, frameworks, or frontend tools.

• Experience implementing complex animations and interactive interfaces, with a strong understanding of browser rendering and performance optimization.

• Experience with mobile web development and responsive interfaces.

• Experience working with REST APIs, asynchronous client-server interactions, and data-driven interfaces.

• Experience working with existing or legacy codebases, including refactoring and maintaining production-quality code.

• Ability to evaluate technical requirements and designs from the perspectives of usability, feasibility, performance, compatibility, integration, and maintainability.

• Confident use of Figma and ability to collaborate effectively with designers.

• Ability to work independently, investigate technical problems, and find practical solutions.

• Strong attention to implementation quality, interface details, consistency, and user experience.

• Experience participating in code reviews and technical discussions.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills in multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong spoken and written English for technical communication and documentation.

• Russian language skills would be an advantage.

What additional skills will help you stand out?

• Good sense of visual design, composition, and understanding of UI/UX principles for interactive web interfaces.

• Experience with Three.js, WebGL, or other 3D/web graphics technologies.

• Experience with GSAP, Motion, or similar animation libraries.

• Experience with Node.js for frontend tooling, scripts, and build systems.

• Experience working on multilingual and multi-regional projects.

• Experience developing mini-games

• Experience in the game industry or with game-related web products.

• Links to relevant projects demonstrating interactive, animation-heavy, or technically complex frontend work.

Work mode

• Onsite during probation period and hybrid (3 days of work from the office) after finishing probation period.
