Headquartered in New York City, New York, Warp is a software technology company that develops a modern, Rust-based terminal for software engineers. The company's intelligent terminal replaces traditional command-line interfaces with modern features like text-editor-like input, block-based output navigation, and integrated AI assistance. Additionally, it offers cloud-backed team collaboration tools, allowing developers to save, share, and reuse workflows across their organizations.

Warp: We're Building the Platform for Agentic Development

Warp began with the vision of reimagining one of the fundamental dev tools - the terminal - to make it more usable and powerful for all developers. As AI has advanced, Warp has evolved beyond its terminal roots into a full agentic development environment: a workbench for dispatching agents to code, deploy, and debug production software.

Today, we have two products: Warp, the agentic development environment born out of the terminal, and Oz, our orchestration platform for running hundreds of cloud agents in parallel. With both products, we’re creating the scaffolding for developers to build their own workflows for working with agents.

In Warp, seamlessly switch between running commands, launching agents, and iterating on code with agents- eliminating the need to jump between a terminal and an IDE. It all works with our built-in SOTA agent or top agents like Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, and OpenCode. In Oz, build custom agents that are triggered programmatically, tracked centrally, and are shared across full teams to run agents across organizations without compromising security or reliability. Continue cloud agent runs that were triggered by Oz locally in Warp or on the web with one click.

With over 750k active developers at companies including Docker, Ramp, Peloton, and over half of the Fortune 500 and revenue that grew over 44x last year, Warp is one of the fastest-growing startups in the AI development space.

Our mission has remained the same even as AI has advanced: to empower developers to ship better software more quickly, freeing them to focus on the creative and rewarding aspects of their work. If you want to help define what development looks like in the agentic era at a company where your work reaches hundreds of thousands of engineers every day, we'd love to have you.

Th

e Role

This is a rare opportunity to join Warp at a pivotal moment in our growth and become the first engineer focused specifically on Enterprise Security.

As a Software Engineer, Enterprise Security, you'll help define and build the security capabilities that allow the world's most security-conscious organizations to adopt Warp and agentic software development. You'll work as a product engineer-designing and shipping capabilities across identity, authorization, agent permissions, auditability, data protection, and enterprise controls-while bringing deep security expertise to the decisions we make about the product.

This is a hands-on software engineering role. You'll work directly in the Warp codebase, own major technical areas end-to-end, and partner closely with Product and GTM to understand what sophisticated enterprises need from Warp and turn those needs into great product experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build enterprise security capabilities across areas like identity, authorization, permissions, auditability, policy, data controls, and administration.
  • Define the security model for agentic software development, including how agents access code, tools, credentials, customer data, and other sensitive resources.
  • Own major security-sensitive product areas end-to-end, from understanding customer needs and defining the right product behavior through architecture, implementation, launch, and iteration.
  • Partner with Product and GTM to understand enterprise security requirements and translate them into product investments that unlock adoption without compromising Warp's usability.
  • Set technical direction for enterprise security at Warp, identifying the highest-leverage capabilities and architectural investments as our product and enterprise business grow.
  • Bring security expertise to the broader engineering organization, helping teams make good architectural decisions around authentication, authorization, isolation, data protection, and other security-sensitive systems.

Must Have

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally building complex production systems in a fast-paced product or startup environment.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and a track record of personally designing, building, and shipping significant product or platform capabilities.
  • Experience building security-sensitive enterprise features or systems, such as authentication and authorization, RBAC/ABAC, SSO/SCIM, permissions and policy systems, audit logging, tenant isolation, secrets management, encryption, or data controls.
  • Strong security intuition and the ability to reason deeply about trust boundaries, permissions, credentials, data access, and how systems can be misused.
  • Strong product judgment: you can understand what enterprise customers are trying to accomplish and translate security requirements into pragmatic, usable product experiences.
  • Ability to lead ambiguous technical areas as a senior IC: identify the problem, develop an approach, align stakeholders, and drive implementation through completion.
  • Clear, thoughtful communication across engineering, Product, GTM, and technically sophisticated customers.
  • Comfortable operating with significant ownership and ambiguity-you default to figuring things out rather than waiting to be told what to do.

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a Senior or Staff engineer owning enterprise security, identity, authorization, trust, or governance capabilities at a developer-tool, AI, cloud, security-product, or enterprise SaaS company.
  • Experience building products used by security teams, CISOs, or enterprise administrators, giving you firsthand understanding of how sophisticated organizations think about security.
  • Experience working directly with enterprise customers or GTM teams to turn customer security requirements into product capabilities.
  • Experience securing AI or agentic systems, particularly around scoped permissions, untrusted code execution, sandboxing/isolation, secrets and credentials, tool access, approval flows, or access to customer data.
  • Experience building security products or developer-facing security systems at companies such as Wiz, Snyk, Semgrep, Cloudflare, or similar.
  • Experience with application security, threat modeling, vulnerability response, or security incidents. These are valuable complementary skills, but this role's primary focus is building product.
