Want to join the ride?\nWe are looking for a Senior Workshop Engineer to join our Workshop Operations team in Istanbul, Türkiye.\nIn this role, you will combine hands-on engine expertise with technical leadership, supporting workshop operations, quality, and continuous improvement while helping to develop the capabilities of the team.\nYour role and responsibilities\nAs a Senior Workshop Engineer, you will act as a technical expert and mentor within the workshop, ensuring that maintenance and overhaul activities are performed safely, efficiently, and according to Wärtsilä quality standards.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nLead and support workshop operations, ensuring quality, safety, and efficient execution of maintenance and overhaul activities.\nProvide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to workshop technicians and engineers.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives, including quality and 5S activities, to enhance workshop performance.\nMonitor workshop documentation, reporting, and compliance with Wärtsilä standards and procedures.\nCoordinate tools, equipment, and resources needed to support daily workshop operations.\nSupport planning activities and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure smooth workshop execution.\nAct as a technical role model on the shop floor, promoting best practices and a strong safety culture.\nContribute to the development of repair methods, technical capabilities, and team competence.\nTo be successful in this role, we expect you to have:\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.\n3+ years of experience with engine maintenance, overhauls, repairs, or workshop operations.\nHands-on background as a Marine Engineer, Service Engineer, Workshop Engineer, or similar.\nConfidence working with precision measuring tools and technical documentation.\nA hands-on approach to fault finding and technical problem solving.\nFluent English, written and spoken.\nBased in Istanbul (Anatolian side), preferably near Tuzla.\nAs an ideal candidate you might also have…\nExperience with Wärtsilä engines or similar medium-speed engines.\nKnowledge of SAP, CRM, or other digital service tools.\nExperience guiding, coaching, or supporting technical teams.\nInterest in continuous improvement, quality, and workshop development.\nIn this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world.
