This editor will be responsible for working with columnists as well as developing subject-specific op-ed articles and prospecting for new writers. The editor will also play a role in developing creative strategies for effective publishing.\nThe ideal candidate will be well-versed in commissioning and shaping persuasive coverage based on reporting and expertise. They should be comfortable with a variety of multimedia formats and how to translate arguments in different forms. They will also have the opportunity to establish regular thematic features, elevate new talent and contribute unsigned editorials to the Editorial Board.\nWhat Motivates You\nYou are drawn to complex topics and have a desire to present them in clear and accessible fashion to a broader audience.\n\nYou believe persuasive arguments are built around detailed reporting.\n\nYou are passionate about opinion journalism that informs, challenges and reaches diverse audiences.\n\nYou take pride in working with new and established writers and bringing out the best in their work.\n\nYou appreciate that the editorial process is constantly evolving - and that methods, techniques, subjects and strategies will always be changing.\n\nHow You'll Support the Mission\nAim to create definitive opinion coverage in your area.\n\nEnsure that the writers you are working with are constantly engaged and working in a range of different editorial forms.\n\nDevelop ideas, shape writing and publish the sharpest possible views.\n\nCoordinate with the wider department to ensure every article is published for maximum effectiveness.\n\nBe on constant lookout for new writers, fresh subjects and innovations in publishing.\n\nParticipate in editorial board meetings and contribute occasionally with unsigned editorials.\n\nOccasionally appear on podcasts, social video and other multimedia offerings.\n\nThe Skills and Experience You Bring\nQualifications\n5+ years of experience in journalism, media or communications.\n\nExperience managing writers and editors.\n\nExperience developing new editorial forms and publishing techniques.\n\nExperience with digital media.\n\nStrong persuasive writing skills.\n\nA collaborative spirit and ability to build strong partnerships across teams.\n\nCollaboration makes us stronger.
