As a Recruiter (Contract), you’ll operate at the intersection of strategic hiring and coordination-ensuring our recruiting engine runs smoothly while also leading a select set of full-cycle requisitions.\nIn this high-impact, collaborative role, you’ll help bring our mission to life by ensuring that every candidate, recruiter, and hiring manager experiences clarity, care, and momentum. This is more than just moving candidates through a pipeline - it’s about building trust, unlocking potential, and helping shape careers that support journalism that matters.\nThis role will cover an employee leave and is expected to last through March 2027. This position is based onsite five days a week in our Washington, DC office.\nWhat Motivates You\nYou enjoy connecting talented people with opportunities where they can make a meaningful impact.\nYou take pride in creating a thoughtful, high-touch experience for candidates and hiring managers throughout the recruiting process.\nYou enjoy building trusted partnerships with hiring managers and helping them make informed hiring decisions.\nYou thrive in a fast-paced environment where strong organization, attention to detail, and timely follow-through keep multiple searches moving forward.\nYou are comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting as hiring needs, processes, and priorities evolve.\nYou value clear communication, collaboration, empathy, and professionalism in every interaction.\nYou enjoy balancing hands-on recruiting with the coordination required to deliver an efficient and well-managed hiring process.\nHow You'll Support the Mission\nManage approximately 5-10 open requisitions at times, primarily supporting hiring teams across corporate functions such as tech, finance, and operations.\nOwn the end-to-end recruiting process, including intake, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, offer preparation, and closing.\nPartner with hiring managers to understand role needs, advise on hiring strategies, and guide searches from intake through successful hire.\nSource and screen candidates, conduct phone interviews, and develop thoughtful, qualified candidate shortlists.\nCollaborate closely with hiring teams and other stakeholders to support timely, informed hiring decisions.\nDeliver high-touch, timely communication that strengthens candidate relationships and supports a positive candidate experience.\nPartner with Compensation and hiring managers to develop compelling, equitable offers.\nThe Skills and Experience You Bring\n5+ years of in-house corporate recruiting experience, including proven experience managing full-cycle searches, is required.\nExperience managing full cycle recruiting, from hiring plans to offer negotiation, is required.\nExperience recruiting for a variety of corporate functions including tech, finance, marketing, sales, and operations is highly preferred.\nExperience with behavioral based interviews and candidate assessment is highly preferred.\nExperience with applicant tracking systems, preferably Workday.\nStrong organizational and time management skills; highly detail-oriented.\nExperience coordinating complex scheduling needs across teams and platforms.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\nClear communicator with a customer-focused approach; empathetic and professional.\nDemonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships with hiring managers and candidates.\nComfortable working in ambiguity and adapting to new processes, platforms, and hiring needs.\nYour story awaits.
