The GS II also supports post-award activities including fund management and agency reports.Job Description\nPrimary Duties & Responsibilities:\nProposal/Grant Management:\nWorks with graduate student and faculty Principal Investigators (PIs) in fellowship and training grant proposal preparation and submission, compiling and submitting the entire grant according to established agency/university guidelines. \nGathers information for non-technical proposal components as needed. \nServes as liaison between PIs, the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences (DBBS), and Department Administrators (DAs). Stays current on federal and university developments regarding research administration and complex regulations.\nCompiles and ensures accurate regulatory compliance of necessary data collected from various sources.\nEnters grant budgeting documents on line, as needed.\nObtains PI and institutional signatures for proposal submissions.\nAward Management:\nProvides internal notice of award (NOA), including sponsor award documents, to Sponsored Projects Accounting (SPA) and the PI, noting any special terms and conditions.\nMonitors and works with PI to submit annual agency reports (e.g., Research Performance Progress Reports/RPPRs).\nCoordinates post award with SPA to ensure accurate and timely budget set up.\nResponsible for grant closure and forms processing.\nResearch Compliance:\nCoordinates the necessary support with internal and external requests for grant-related information (i.e. current biosketches, trainee information, and human/animal protocol approvals, other support).\nResearch Reporting:\nEnters and maintains online database of grants submitted, awarded, rejected, etc.\nPost-Award Activities:\nActs to resolve accounting issues and manage year-end process.\nWorks with PIs to provide fund management and make any necessary budgetary changes.\nApproves purchasing documents and provides guidance on appropriate expenditures according to specific grant policies.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nWorking Conditions:\nJob Location/Working Conditions\nNormal office environment.\nMay have some travel to conferences or training.\nPhysical Effort\nTypically sitting at desk or table.\nRepetitive wrist, hand or finger movement.\nEquipment\nOffice equipment.\nThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification.
