You will interact with employees from all aspects of the business including Operations, Sales, Dispatch, and Customer Service. Your success within the role is reliant on an ambitious work ethic, excellent communication and the ability to problem-solve. The key to Waste Connections’ continued growth and success is sourcing, developing, and promoting individuals who meet these expectations.\nAs an Assistant Controller with us, the minimum responsibilities are:\nPerforming monthly financial close functions through preparation of financial statements\nReconciliation of all general ledger accounts\nCompletion of monthly financial projection analysis\nMonthly narrative analysis of significant financial variances to budget and forecast\nEffective ongoing communication of financial related information to business counterparts \nPlanning and participating in the annual financial budget process\nPrepare all capital purchase requests for the district, including preparation of all support documents\nImplement and maintain required internal controls\nImplement and maintain regular reporting processes to support operations\nCoordinating and performing Inventory counts - Rolling Stock, Container, and Truck Shop inventory\nProviding training to non-financial personnel on internal control compliance, accounting procedures and financial statement review\nSpecial projects as assigned.\nWhat We Need From You:\nBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.\nEnrolment in or plans to enroll in CPA\n3+ years of accounting experience in a similar role\nProficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications.\nAnalytical thinking and attention to detail.\nExcellent written and interpersonal communication skills\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.\nMust be a self-starter with the initiative to learn and a great work ethic\nWhat You’ll Get From Us:\nCompetitive Wages\nRetirement Plan with company match; let us help you save for your future\nBenefits; Medical, Dental, Vision\nPerks, perks, perks!
