We offer extensive opportunities for advancement throughout our North American network.\nWhat You'll Do\nAs the Maintenance Manager, you'll oversee all aspects of fleet maintenance, shop operations, technician development, safety, compliance, and financial performance.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and champion a world-class safety culture, ensuring adherence to all company, DOT, OSHA, and regulatory requirements.\nRecruit, train, mentor, and develop mechanics, preventive maintenance technicians, and shop personnel.\nFoster a collaborative and accountable team environment focused on quality, efficiency, and customer service.\nDirect daily shop operations, including work assignments, scheduling, and prioritization of repairs and preventive maintenance.\nMaintain fleet reliability through effective maintenance planning and equipment management.\nOversee parts inventory, purchasing, vendor relationships, and cost controls.\nPrepare purchase orders and negotiate competitive pricing for parts and outside repair services.\nCoordinate third-party maintenance vendors and outside repair providers as needed.\nAssist technicians with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair strategies for trucks and heavy equipment.\nPerform road calls and emergency support when necessary.\nManage shop compliance with all regulatory agencies and company standards.\nPartner with regional leadership on monthly forecasting, budgeting, and long-term maintenance planning.\nMonitor maintenance costs and ensure departmental performance remains within budget targets.\nCommunicate regularly with the Region Maintenance Manager to support fleet performance and operational objectives.\nWhat We're Looking For\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of progressive maintenance leadership experience in truck, fleet, heavy equipment, transportation, waste, construction, or related industries.\nProven ability to lead, train, motivate, and develop maintenance personnel.\nStrong knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance programs.\nExperience managing maintenance budgets, cost controls, and operational performance metrics.\nStrong understanding of DOT requirements and fleet compliance programs.\nExcellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.\nAbility to obtain a CDL within 90 days of hire.\nPreferred Qualifications\nWaste industry experience.\nExperience managing union employees\nTrade school or technical certification.\nExperience managing large fleet maintenance operations.\nFamiliarity with maintenance management software and fleet tracking systems.\nSuccess in This Role Looks Like\nSafe, compliant, and efficient shop operations.\nHigh fleet availability and reliability.\nStrong technician development and retention.\nControlled maintenance costs and inventory management.\nEffective collaboration with operations leadership.\nConsistent achievement of maintenance and budget objectives.\nBenefits & Perks\nMedical, Dental & Vision Insurance\n401(k) with Company Match\nFlexible Spending Account (FSA)\nLife Insurance\nShort-Term & Long-Term Disability\nPaid Time Off and Holidays\nOngoing Leadership Development\nCareer Advancement Opportunities Nationwide\nTo be considered for any of our current openings you must complete an application at www.careers.wasteconnections.com .
