The ideal candidate translates complex operational and routing logic into clear requirements and is comfortable driving decisions across both business and technical stakeholders.\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn the SMART roadmap and backlog, including route sequencing and scheduling optimization.\n\nPrioritize features across the pilot, scale, and maintain stages of product builds.\n\nTranslate district rules and legacy routing logic into clear, actionable product requirements.\n\nAuthor clear requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for the development team.\n\nMonitor SMART performance and drive post-release improvements.\n\nPartner with platform and data science teams on data and algorithm needs.\n\nDrive district adoption through training, enablement, and change management as SMART scales.\n\nCommunicate roadmap progress, dependencies, and business impact to executive sponsors and working teams.\n\nIdentify opportunities to strengthen the SMART portfolio and surface new opportunity areas.\n\n Qualifications\n5+ years of product or program management experience, including AI/analytics or operational technology products.\n\nExperience across all stages of the product lifecycle, from concept through scale and ongoing support.\n\nFamiliarity with vehicle routing solutions.\n\nBusiness acumen to quantify the value of vehicle route optimization.\n\nStrong analytical mindset for navigating business and technical trade-off discussions.\n\nCloud and data platform fluency (AWS, Databricks, or comparable technologies).\n\nExperience with Agile delivery and backlog management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).\n\nAssertive presence and the ability to drive alignment across cross-functional teams.\n\nPMP, CSPO,SAFe, orPragmaticcertification a plus.\n\n Measures of Success\nSMART roadmap delivered on time and against strategic OKRs.\n\nSMART adoption success rate at scale across districts.\n\nRoute acceptance rate across districts (share of SMART-optimized routes run as planned).\n\nPlanned versus actual cost savings per district from SMART enablement.\n\nNew SMART capabilities identified and advanced from opportunity to roadmap.\n\nSuccessful candidates will demonstrate the ability to deliver measurable business outcomes while collaborating effectively across operational, business, and technical teams.\nWaste Connections is an equal opportunity employer.
