We work in an environment where empowered, self-directed All-stars know what they do is important.\n- INTEGRITY: Our definition is “saying what you will do and then doing it!” We keep our promises to our customers and our employees. \nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nInspect trailers and identify mechanical, structural, and electrical issues.\nPerform preventive maintenance and routine safety inspections.\nDiagnose and repair trailer brake systems, suspensions, wheel ends, bearings, and related components.\nTroubleshoot and repair trailer lighting, wiring, and electrical systems.\nRepair or replace doors, floors, landing gear, mud flaps, panels, and other trailer components.\nPerform air brake and air system repairs.\nComplete basic welding and fabrication when required.\nReplace tires and perform wheel-end repairs as needed.\nMaintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and completed repairs.\nKeep tools and the work area clean, organized, and safe.\nFollow company safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.\nCommunicate equipment concerns and needed repairs to supervisors.\nWORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:\nExtensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.\nWork environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair equipment on the face of the landfill. Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions.\nThe employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.\nMINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:\nValid drivers license.\nAbility to read, write, comprehend and communicate service and technical information.\nPrevious trailer, diesel, heavy-equipment, automotive, or related mechanical experience preferred.\nWorking knowledge of air brakes, suspension systems, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance.\nAbility to diagnose mechanical problems and complete repairs safely.\nExperience with welding and fabrication is a plus.\nAbility to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment.\nValid driver's license may be required.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.\nMust own personal tools. \nTo be considered for any of our current openings you must complete an application at careers.wasteconnections.com .
