This is a unique opportunity to join a team at the center of Waters’ transformation, working on high-impact initiatives that shape the future of the enterprise.\nAs a Principal Pricing Data Engineer, you will be a senior technical contributor and domain expert who partners closely with other members of the Pricing Excellence team, as well as colleagues across each Division. You will bring deep technical expertise and own technical solutions for the pricing domain, operating with a high degree of independence. You will design, build, and enhance robust data pipelines, platforms, and automation that specifically enable pricing strategy, analytics, and execution. This includes supporting advanced pricing capabilities such as price waterfall analysis, discount optimization, segmentation, and margin expansion.\nThis role remains hands-on but with elevated responsibility for data architecture, pricing data models, and cross-functional alignment. You will serve as a key problem solver for complex pricing data challenges and a trusted partner to both technical and business stakeholders, ensuring pricing data is accurate, accessible, and actionable across the enterprise.**This role is hybrid and the office is located in Milford, MA. This is NOT a remote position.**\nResponsibilities\nPricing Data Engineering & Architecture\nDesign and build scalable, reliable data pipelines that ingest, validate, transform, and persist pricing-relevant data, including: \nTransactional sales data (orders, invoices, contracts) \nPrice lists, discounts, rebates, and surcharges \nCost, margin, and profitability data \nDevelop and maintain pricing-specific data models, including: \nPrice waterfall \nCustomer and product segmentation hierarchies \nRealized price and margin analytics \nDefine and implement the end-to-end pricing data architecture, ensuring integration across systems such as ERP, CRM, and CPQ. \nEstablish scalable frameworks to support global pricing governance and standardization across divisions and regions. \nAdvanced Data Engineering & Platform Development\nContribute to and influence data platform design for analytics, machine learning, and Agentic AI workloads, with a focus on pricing use cases. \nBuild high-performance data pipelines capable of supporting: \nLarge-scale transactional datasets \nNear real-time pricing insights and monitoring \nImplement and maintain data quality checks, validation logic, and monitoring dashboards to ensure pricing data integrity and auditability. \nOptimize data pipelines for performance, cost efficiency, and scalability in cloud environments. \nPricing Analytics & Decision Enablement\nPartner closely with Global Pricing and Commercial teams to translate business problems into scalable data solutions. \nEnable advanced pricing analytics, including: \nPrice realization and leakage analysis \nDiscount and rebate effectiveness \nCustomer/product elasticity modeling (in collaboration with data science) \nEnsure pricing data is model-ready, traceable, and reproducible for analytics and machine learning applications. \nSupport development of pricing dashboards, KPIs, and reporting frameworks used by senior leadership. \nSoftware Engineering Excellence\nDevelop production-grade Python code using strong OOP and functional programming practices. \nFollow and promote sound engineering practices, including modular design, testing, readability, and maintainability. \nParticipate actively in code reviews, automated testing, and source control workflows.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, plus 8+ years of relevant industry experience, or equivalent practical experience.\nAdvanced proficiency in Python and SQL, with a strong focus on data engineering use cases.\nProven experience building and operating end-to-end data pipelines (ETL/ELT) in modern data environments.\nSolid understanding of source control, collaborative development workflows, and production support.\nStrong experience working with commercial and pricing-related data (e.g., sales transactions, pricing, margins, rebates).\nExperience mentoring peers and contributing to technical best practices within a team environment.\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.\nDemonstrated drive, curiosity, humility, and ability to learn.\nNice to Have / Plus Qualifications\nFamiliarity with process mining platforms such as Celonis, including working with event-based data and enabling transparency into end-to-end business processes.\nStrong business domain knowledge and experience working with enterprise systems such as SAP (e.g., supply chain data, orders, revenue recognition, pricing), Salesforce (commercial operations), and/or Service Excellence domains, with the ability to translate business processes into scalable data solutions.\nCompany Description\nWaters Corporation (NYSE:WAT) is a global leader in life sciences and diagnostics, dedicated to accelerating the benefits of pioneering science through analytical technologies, informatics, and service.
