This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact, collaborate with cross functional teams, and help shape sound financial decisions in a growing and innovative organization based in Vernon, BC.Scope of Position\nThis detailed individual, as part of the tekmar finance team, will be responsible for an integral role in core accounting operations, financial analysis, and internal and external reporting. Reporting to the Sr. Finance Manager, this position will provide hands-on execution and leadership in the month-end close process, balance sheet integrity, inventory and standard cost accounting, project accounting, internal controls, and compliance activities.\nThe successful candidate is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of accounting deliverables while leveraging strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex data, deliver meaningful financial insights, and support management decision-making.\nThis position has no direct reports.\nThis position reports to the Senior Finance Manager. This role is onsite and is based in Vernon, BC.\nPrimary Job Duties and Responsibilities\nPRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nLeads the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, ensuring the integrity of financial accounts and compliance with applicable reporting requirements.\nOwns standard costing processes, margin impact analysis, inventory accounting, inventory count reconciliations, excess and obsolete inventory reserve analysis, and manufacturing variance reviews.\nPrepares and reviews monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely financial reporting.\nSupports financial forecasting and annual operating planning processes.\nAssists the Sr. Finance Manager in the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.\nReviews and posts accounts payable transactions and general ledger vouchers.\nPrepares ad hoc financial reports and analysis to support business planning and decision-making.\nSupports intercompany project accounting, planning, and reporting activities.\nSupports compliance activities for GST/HST, PST, Statistics Canada, and corporate tax requirements.\nParticipates in projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes within the ERP and supporting systems. Maintains a strong understanding of complex multi-company and multi-currency ERP environments and supports ERP implementations and financial system enhancements.\nActs as liaison with Corporate Payroll & Benefits to ensure accurate payroll-related inputs, reconcile results, post accounting entries, and prepare accruals.\nMaintains flexibility to work outside regular business hours as required to support month-end and year-end close activities.\nAssume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Sr Finance Manager or Company management.\nTravel Requirements: 5% to Canadian and US locations as applicable\nResponsibility directly tied to Watts Value of Integrity, Accountability, Continuous and Transparency\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA designation is preferred.\n7+ yearsof progressive accounting and financial reporting experience\nStrong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and analysis, month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, costing and internal controls. Prior experience in a manufacturing business is a plus.\nExperience with payroll systems and payroll accounting, including payroll tax requirements, earnings and benefit calculations, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entry preparation.\nAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Capable of effectively manipulating, modeling, and organizing large amounts of data.\nExperience working with ERP and financial reporting systems.\nDemonstrated ability to review complex accounting entries, identify root causes, resolve issues, and communicate financial impacts clearly to finance and operations stakeholders.\nUnderstanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.\nMust successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including a criminal record check and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nSelf-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.\nProficiency with IFS ERP, SAP, Power BI and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) would be an asset.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities, maintain accuracy under tight deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.\nExcellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential\nGeneral Applicable Company Competencies\nCommitment to Watts’ values of integrity, accountability, continuous improvement and innovation, and transparency.\nPunctuality and dependability.\nAbility to be flexible and adapt to changing work priorities and stressful conditions.\nAdherence to all personnel policies, procedures, and standards of process as implemented by Watts.\nMaintain productive and collaborative relationships with other Watts employees.\nAdherence to Watts’ seven cultural beliefs: Growth Mindset, Customer-Focused Innovation, Constant Communication, Clear Goals, Collaborate Globally, Be Inclusive, and Take Action.\nWorking Conditions\nWhile performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Vernon BC location (Monday - Friday). Tekmar offers a competitive bonus structure, and, an additional vacation time accrual.
