This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, building real hardware, and contributing to products from concept through production.\nIf you're experienced with electronics design, enjoy working in a collaborative R&D environment, and want to grow your engineering career with a team that values innovation, continuous improvement, and learning, we'd love to hear from you.\nScope of Position\nThis solutions focused and hands on junior engineer/technologist, as part of the tekmar hardware engineering team will be responsible for working on a range of electronic hardware development projects with support from senior engineers. The individual will participate in new product development and product maintenance by completing tasks such as schematic capture, PCB layout, building prototypes and testing.\nThis position has no direct reports.\nThis position reports to Title. This role is onsite and is based in Vernon BC at 5100 Silverstar Rd.\nPrimary Job Duties and Responsibilities\nSchematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer.\nCreating component symbols and footprints for PCB design.\nSoldering, assembling and wiring sample hardware.\nTesting and troubleshooting electronic hardware.\nUsing electronic lab equipment to measure and monitor circuits.\nMaking modifications to existing designs.\nDocumenting test results.\nParticipating in research projects and developing new circuits.\nPreparing samples and documentation for regulatory agencies to certify products according to safety and other standards.\nCreating necessary PCB and design documentation for manufacturing processes.\nWorking to resolve manufacturing issues as they arise.\nCompleting and documenting design changes to existing electronic hardware.\nWriting engineering documents including requirements and specifications.\nContributing to design of mechanical, packaging and labelling components as needed.\nUses Microsoft Office®, the company ERP system,and applicable graphic/PCB software.\n Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including a national criminal record & sensitivities check, education verification and references, and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.\nAssume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Hardware Engineering Manager or Company management.\nResponsibilities in this role are directly tied to Watts’ Values of Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency\nTravel Requirements:10% from time to time for training, conferences and Watts opportunities. \n\nRequired Qualifications\nElectrical/Electronic Engineering Degree or Technologist Diploma.\nMinimum of 3+ years of experience in electronics design, repair or assembly.\nTechnical skills relevant to the principal responsibilities and duties described.\nExperience with Altium Designer or other PCB layout software.\nProficient soldering skills and awareness of IPC standards.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nFamiliarity with PCB assembly manufacturing processes.\nExperience or familiarity with mechanical design concepts and 3D CAD software.\nUnderstanding of HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system principles and controls.\nUnderstanding of software development principles with some programming experience.\nGeneral Applicable Company Competencies\n· Commitment to Watts’ values of integrity, accountability, continuous improvement and innovation, and transparency.\n· Punctuality and dependability.\n· Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work priorities and stressful conditions.\n· Adherence to all personnel policies, procedures, and standards of process as implemented by Watts.\n· Maintain productive and collaborative relationships with other Watts employees.\n· Adherence to Watts’ seven cultural beliefs: Growth Mindset, Customer-Focused Innovation, Constant Communication, Clear Goals, Collaborate Globally, Be Inclusive, and Take Action.\nWorking Conditions\nWhile performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Vernon BC location (Monday - Friday).
