We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems,\n\nworking with data and finding smarter ways to do things.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are looking for a Junior Data Engineer with practical technical experience and an interest in\n\nfinancial and business processes. You will support and improve existing production data pipelines,\n\nmaintain scripts and integrations, and help ensure that accurate, reliable information is delivered\n\nto Treasury and other departments on time.\n\nThis is a hands-on role that combines data engineering, routine data-server administration and\n\nprocess improvement. You will report to the Executive Head: Group Technology, who will provide\n\nguidance on business priorities, governance and performance oversight. All work will be carried\n\nout within agreed responsibilities and established change-control procedures, with complex\n\ntechnical matters escalated for appropriate assistance.\n\nKey responsibilities\nData pipelines and integrations:\n\n Monitor scheduled ETL/ELT processes and API integrations, investigate failed processing and support safe recovery.\n\n Understand how source data, transformations and downstream outputs connect.\n\nScripts and process improvement:\n\n Read, troubleshoot and maintain existing Python, R and SQL-based processes.\n\n Build straightforward ingestion, transformation and automation solutions against agreed requirements.\n\nData quality and Treasury delivery:\n\n Validate and reconcile datasets, investigate missing or inconsistent information, and support timely delivery of Treasury data, rates, reconciliations and other business outputs.\n\nData-server support:\n\n Perform routine Linux and Windows data-server maintenance across on-premise and Azure environments.\n\n Monitor storage, system health and runtime dependencies, and report resource constraints.\n\nControlled changes and documentation:\n\n Test changes before deployment, use Git/version control, maintain processing documentation and support backup and recovery procedures.\n\n Follow approved access, credential-handling and release requirements.\n\nBusiness collaboration:\n\n Engage with departments to understand data needs, identify improvements and communicate progress, exceptions and operational issues clearly.\n\nMinimum requirements and Advantages\nMinimum requirements:\n\n A minimum of 2 years’ relevant practical experience, preferably 3, in data processing, scripting, data pipeline support or related server administration. Practical exposure to production troubleshooting and software/data integration is required.\n\n A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or a related technical discipline is preferred.
