The systems that make that possible need to be fast, reliable, and built to scale as we grow into new markets.\nWhat you'll actually do\nDesign and develop scalable backend services using Python and Django, focusing on our core financial products\n\nBuild and maintain RESTful APIs that power our customer-facing applications and internal tools\n\nImplement robust data models and database schemas to support our financial services infrastructure\n\nWrite clean, testable code with comprehensive unit and integration tests\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features and improvements\n\nOptimize application performance and ensure high availability of our services\n\nParticipate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation\n\nMonitor and maintain production systems, ensuring reliability and security\n\nWho thrives here\nYou should be comfortable making and defending technical decisions, while remaining open to feedback and alternative approaches. You'll need to balance technical excellence with business needs and help guide the team toward pragmatic solutions.\nYou excel at stakeholder management and can effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. You're proactive in identifying and addressing potential issues before they become problems.\nWe look for candidates with most or all of the below traits that can point to real experience applying them.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience\n\n5+ years of professional experience in backend development with Python\n\nStrong proficiency in Django, or other Python API frameworks (e.g. FastAPI, Flask)\n\nExperience with SQL databases (preferably PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks\n\nKnowledge of API design principles and microservices architecture\n\nExperience with AWS or similar cloud platforms\n\nSolid understanding of version control with Git\n\nExperience with testing frameworks (e.g., pytest, unittest)\n\nUnderstanding of security best practices and data protection\n\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail\n\nExcellent communication abilities and proven track record of successful team collaboration\n\nGiven what we do, experience in financial services, fintech and business-to-business organisations is particularly interesting to us.\nWe hire for range\nWhat you're like as a person and how you treat people is a big deal for us.
