We design, build, and perfect the products which are the eyes and ears of Waymo's autonomous driving technology, and integrate those products into vehicle platforms. We're seeking curious and talented teammates to keep us moving in the right direction\nThis role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to the Manager of Integration Engineering\nYou will:\nArchitect and implement robust diagnostics infrastructure, tooling and processes to improve the efficiency of troubleshooting self-driving and base vehicle systems\nCollaborate with subject matter experts on sensing, compute, actuator, and support systems, guiding and supporting them through diagnostics design and improvement\nLead analysis of sub-system diagnostics gaps and needs, informing future diagnostics investment\nEvolve Waymo’s Diagnostics strategy through technical and organizational leadership\nYou have:\nA Bachelors or Masters in EE/ME/CE/CSE or related field\n3+ years experience working adjacent to or developing diagnostics in automotive, aerospace, or consumer electronics\nHands-on experience working directly with deployed systems (HW and SW), ideally in a fast-paced automotive or tech environment\nWide breadth of knowledge in the EE/CE/CS/Mech realm, and can spin up on a new topic very quickly\nWorking knowledge of an object-oriented programming language (C++, Python, etc.)\nDemonstrated experience driving diagnostics development for a module, system, or program\nWe prefer:\nHigh level understanding of various self driving vehicle systems (sensors, compute, wiring, power, vehicle actuators, chassis communication, controls, etc.), and mastery of one/some\nAutomotive-specific diagnostics experience, preferably both traditional J1979 OBII-style and modern strategies for SW-defined cloud connected vehicles\nFamiliar with modern passenger vehicle control systems\nAbility to interact with both technical and nontechnical teams to solve technical problems\nTravel requirements 10% :\nOnsite visits to service centers and manufacturing facilities\nThe expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
