The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.\nYou will:\nDesign, develop, and deploy data pipeline, storage, and query infrastructure supporting autonomous driving training and evaluation; \nWrite high-quality, testable, and maintainable code to ensure robust software performance;\nParticipate in peer code reviews to uphold engineering standards and drive continuous improvement in development practices; \nEnhance existing systems for greater performance, scalability, and reliability across large-scale applications; \nMonitor system health and proactively resolve issues while providing technical support to internal users; and \nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, product managers, and engineers to align data solutions with simulation, planning, perception, and commercialization needs.\nYou have:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related field and 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or or in a Software Engineering related occupation. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a Software Engineering related occupation. \nPosition requires 3 years of experience in the following: data structures and algorithms to optimize backend software performance and efficiency; \nbackend systems and infrastructures for large-scale software applications; \nlarge-scale distributed systems and data processing frameworks; \ndata processing frameworks to handle high-volume data pipelines; \nC++, Java, or Python; and \nSQL queries for relational database management and data retrieval.\n\nThe expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
