This role works cross-functionally with engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams to optimize workflows, reduce waste, improve product quality, and support continuous improvement initiatives.\nThe Process Engineer identifies opportunities for improvement, develops solutions, implements process changes, and monitors results to ensure consistent operational performance.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nAnalyze manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, quality concerns, and cost reduction opportunities.\nDesign, implement, and monitor improvements to manufacturing workflows and production methods.\nDevelop standardized procedures and best practices for production processes.\nSupport lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.\nTroubleshoot process issues affecting quality, productivity, or safety.\nWork closely with production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.\nProvide technical guidance to operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.\nDevelop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, SOPs, and process maps.\nEstablish process parameters and ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards.\nAssist in developing training materials for new or revised processes.\nSupport the introduction of new products or equipment into production.\nParticipate in process validation, testing, and capability analysis.\nCoordinate with engineering and production to ensure smooth implementation.\nTrack and analyze production metrics such as cycle time, scrap rates, and throughput.\nUse data to drive continuous improvement and operational decision-making.\nPrepare reports on process performance and improvement initiatives.\nEnsure manufacturing processes meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.\nIdentify risks and participate in safety improvement initiatives. \nRequirements\n EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience.\n2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to interpret technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.\nExperience with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar).\nStrong communication and collaboration skills.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:\nExperience in metal fabrication, machining, laser cutting, or welding environments.\nExperience with ERP or production management systems.\nLean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.\nProject management experience.\nContinuous improvement mindset\nProblem solving and root cause analysis\nProcess documentation and standardization\nData analysis and decision making\nCollaboration and cross-functional teamwork\nTechnical troubleshooting\nCombination of office and manufacturing floor environment.\nRegular exposure to production equipment, noise, and industrial conditions.\nMay require standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 45 lbs.\nENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:\nConform to all Wayne Metals, LLC environmental policies, programs and procedures.\nConform to all State of Indiana laws and regulations.\nReport any environmental concerns to supervisor, Environmental Management Representative, or the Plant manager.\nInternal\n5 or less points at the time of interview\n1 or less quality coaching in last 12 months\nPass blueprint reading test\n External\nWithin 6 months to attend programming training at multiple suppliers\nPass blueprint reading test\nGood record of employment\n2 professional references\nAbility to pass CWI within 18 months or 3 tries \nAbility to pass D.1.1 Certification within 6
