Responsible for training employees, scheduling feed mill activities, ordering ingredients and supplies, conducting housekeeping audits and conducting safety meetings. Also responsible for compliance with all company policies, FSMA regulations, and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations. Responsible for reviewing daily production activities.\nRESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:\nSupervise and train employees: leading by example, providing direction, and fostering communication while administering corrective and disciplinary actions on a consistent basis.\nProvide and enforce safety training.\nSchedule feed mill activities to include feed manufacturing and shipments.\nSchedule production to meet mill requirements, ensuring proper sequence, clean-out procedures, products ordered and current inventories.\nOversee and manage inventories.\nManage daily reporting (tank chart, production record, inventory, batching summaries, etc.).\nReview daily production reports.\nPerform regular housekeeping audits.\nComply with all company, FSMA regulations, and local, state and federal laws and regulations.\nPerform all activities required to complete daily feed mill checklist.\nPerform all other duties as assigned.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDirect supervision of 8 - 30 hourly employees.\nThis is a Leader of People position with required competencies: Delegation, Conflict Management, Planning, Sizing-Up People and Customer Focus.\nMINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent.\nMinimum 2 years’ progressive feed manufacturing experience.\nPREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nAssociate’s Degree in Poultry, Animal or Feed Science, Biology or related field from an accredited institution.\n3+ years’ progressive feed manufacturing experience.\n1+ year related supervisor experience within similar environment.\nExperience in automated feed processing and related equipment.\nREQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:\nAbility to operate loaders, conveyors, tractors, track mobiles and/or drive forklift.\nDemonstrated ability to lead, develop and motivate people.\nDemonstrated knowledge of math functions and skills.\nPractical computer skills with solid knowledge of MS Office programs.\nAbility to manage purchases and inventory.\nKnowledge of food and feed industry regulatory requirements.\nKnowledge of supporting maintenance functions.\nExcellent interpersonal skills.\nAdvanced organizational skills, with attention to detail.\nDemonstrated sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.\nREQUIRED PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS:\nDiagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and equipment malfunctions.\nConduct root cause analysis for preventative maintenance.\nBasic reasoning and critical thinking skills.\nCarry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.\nUnderstand and interpret data while drawing logical conclusions based on available inputs.\nCritical thinking skills in standardized situations as well as non-routine problems.\nSAFETY REQUIREMENTS:\nFollow and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and safety requirements.\nRead and understand Safety Data Sheets (SD’s).\nComply with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.\nMaintain up-to-date knowledge and training certifications on relevant safety topics.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nFrequently stoop, kneel, crawl and bend.\nFrequently climb stairs and 50+ foot ladders.\nOccasionally lift 50 -
