About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Service Manager to lead our Mental Health and Supported Housing Community Outreach service, ensuring that people accessing support receive safe, effective and high-quality provision.

You will oversee the day-to-day operational management of the service, supporting and developing your team to achieve performance targets, maintain quality standards and deliver positive outcomes for the people we support.

You will help ensure that individuals experiencing mental health challenges or housing-related difficulties receive person-centred support that promotes recovery, independence, wellbeing and a greater quality of life.

Community outreach is an important part of this role, helping ensure that support is accessible and responsive to people's individual circumstances and needs.

Your main base will be Chapel View, Chapel Lane, Cumbria, LA9 5RE, where you will work three days per week. The remaining two days per week will be based at our Ulverston hub.

  • Improve outcomes: Ensure people accessing the service receive appropriate assessments, risk assessments, support plans and interventions that promote recovery, independent living and improved wellbeing.
  • Manage and develop staff: Lead, motivate, mentor and coach your team, supporting recruitment, induction, training, performance management, staff development and wellbeing.
  • Monitor performance and quality: Ensure service targets and key performance indicators are achieved, maintain accurate records and use performance data to identify improvements and enhance service delivery.
  • Manage budgets and resources: Work with Waythrough’s Finance Team to manage service budgets, maintain effective financial controls and ensure resources are used efficiently.
  • Develop services: Contribute to business planning, identify opportunities to develop and expand services, and support business development activities in line with organisational and regional priorities.
  • Build effective partnerships: Develop positive relationships with commissioners, stakeholders and partner agencies, representing Waythrough professionally and supporting collaborative working.
  • Maintain compliance and safeguarding: Ensure the service operates in line with relevant legislation, safeguarding requirements, health and safety standards, organisational policies and quality frameworks.
  • Promote accessibility and inclusion: Ensure services are accessible and responsive to the diverse needs of the people we support, particularly individuals and communities who may face barriers to accessing support.
  • Champion continuous improvement: Use feedback, service data and best practice to improve outcomes, maintain high standards and contribute to the wider development of Waythrough.

About You

You will be an effective and confident leader with experience of managing support services and delivering positive outcomes for people facing a range of challenges.

You will have the ability to inspire and develop your team, manage competing priorities and ensure that services meet their contractual, financial and quality requirements.

You will be organised, analytical and confident using management information systems to monitor performance and inform decisions. You will also bring strong communication and relationship-building skills, enabling you to work effectively with commissioners, partner agencies, colleagues and the people who access our services.

You will understand the importance of person-centred support, safeguarding and partnership working in mental health and supported housing services. You will also be comfortable working across different locations and undertaking community outreach as part of your role.

Key Requirements

  • Hold, or be working towards, a recognised management or leadership qualification, such as a Level 5 qualification, or have equivalent relevant experience.
