The team keeps our fleet in peak condition to support testing, demonstrations, and real-world deployment, working closely with engineering, drivers, and operations teams to keep autonomy moving forward, every single day.\nYour day-to-day\nReporting to the Fleet Service Manager, this hands-on role requires strong mechanical knowledge, the ability to work with modern diagnostic systems, and a proactive, safety-conscious mindset.\nConduct Routine Maintenance & Servicing - Perform scheduled maintenance on a diverse fleet of AVs, ensuring reliability and safety across all vehicles.\n\nDiagnose & Repair Technical Issues - Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools, working closely with engineering teams to resolve issues quickly.\n\nSupport High-Profile AV Readiness - Ensure vehicles are kept in excellent condition and ready for demos, investor rides, and media-facing events.\n\nReact to Fleet Faults in Real-Time - Respond to reports from drivers and fleet monitoring systems to address urgent repairs and get vehicles back on the road rapidly.\n\nWork Collaboratively Across Functions - Liaise with Fleet Service Managers, drivers, and Field Engineering to resolve fleet issues and track recurring faults.\n\nFollow Workshop Safety Protocols - Maintain high standards of health and safety in workshop environments, following proper procedures and compliance.\n\nContribute to Servicing Process Improvements - Share ideas for improving servicing workflows, fault reporting, and documentation practices.\n\nKeep Accurate Records - Log all maintenance and repair activities using tracking tools, supporting compliance and trend analysis for continuous improvement.\n\nMaintain Parts and Tools Readiness - Help manage toolkits, diagnostic devices, and parts inventory to ensure smooth daily operations.\n\nFlexibility to Support 24/7 Operations - This is a shift-based role, supporting a rotating schedule to ensure 24/7 fleet readiness and coverage.\n\nWhat you’ll be working on\nRoutine & Preventative Maintenance - Execute scheduled servicing and inspections per manufacturer and internal guidelines.\n\nMechanical & Electrical Fault Resolution - Diagnose and repair a wide range of issues using OEM documentation and advanced diagnostic equipment.\n\nVehicle Readiness for Demonstrations - Ensure vehicles meet high standards of cleanliness, reliability, and functionality for public-facing use.\n\nWorkshop Safety & Compliance - Adhere to safety best practices, risk assessments, and regulations.\n\nRepair Documentation & Tracking - Accurately record faults found, actions taken, and parts used using digital tools.\n\nFeedback into Fleet Performance - Communicate recurring issues or improvement ideas to the Fleet Service Manager and Field Engineering teams.\n\nCustomer-Facing Communication - Engage with fleet drivers to resolve issues they report and ensure a positive operational experience.\n\nYou should apply if\nEssential:\nYou have relevant qualifications in automotive servicing, diagnostics and repairs, such as Level 2 Automotive Mechanic qualification (二級自動車整備士) in Japan.\n\nYou have proven experience as a Vehicle Technician in an automotive servicing or fleet environment.\n\nYou have strong diagnostics capability using OEM or third-party diagnostic equipment.\n\nYou're familiar with mechanical and bodywork repairs using OEM repair manuals.\n\nYou're competent with computer systems for tracking and recording maintenance tasks (e.g., Word, Excel).\n\nYou're comfortable interacting with engineers, operations staff, and drivers.\n\nYou have a strong understanding of workshop safety and compliance standards.\n\nYou hold a Japan Driving License for at least 5 years.\n\nNot ticking every box?
