We also look for strong engineering fundamentals, high attention to detail, and the ability to operate in environments where correctness and reliability are critical.\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, build, and maintain backend systems that power core WazirX products.\nWrite production-grade code with a strong emphasis on correctness, edge cases, and failure handling.\nOwn features end-to-end, from design and implementation to testing, deployment and continuous improvement.\nCollaborate closely with product, QA, infra, and security teams to ensure reliable releases.\nReview code with a focus on long-term maintainability and risk reduction.\nProactively identify and mitigate potential issues before they impact users or funds.\nContinuously improve system reliability, performance and observability.\nRequirements:\nBE or BTech or equivalent in a relevant technical field.\n5 to 8 years of strong hands-on backend development experience.\nStrong backend engineering expertise in at least one modern programming language.\nExperience with MySQL and database systems, including relational and non-relational databases.\nHands-on experience with Docker.\nExperience with Golang is a bonus.\nExposure to CI/CD pipelines and experience with production deployments is a plus.\nExperience writing and maintaining test cases for backend systems and APIs.\nExperience in threat modelling and security architecture design and review.\nThese are non-negotiable qualities, regardless of domain background:\nStrong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, concurrency, system design, debugging).\nProven experience building and operating production systems where correctness matters.\nClose attention to detail and a bias towards defensive programming.\nComfortable working in environments where:\nBugs can lead to monetary loss, significant user impact, or regulatory risk.\nChanges must be carefully reasoned, tested, and reviewed.\nA strong sense of ownership and accountability for what you ship.\nAbility to communicate trade-offs clearly and make sound technical decisions.\nRelevant Backgrounds:\nCandidates with experience in any of the following environments are likely to succeed in this role:\nFintech, banking, payments, trading platforms, or exchanges.\nE-commerce or marketplaces handling high-volume financial transactions and reconciliations.\nDistributed systems or backend platforms with strict SLAs and uptime requirements.\nBilling, accounting, settlement, or ledger-based systems.\nInfrastructure or data platforms where production issues had direct customer or revenue impact.\nTelecom, ad-tech, or enterprise systems involving usage-based billing or financial correctness.\nIf you've worked on systems where production bugs could lead to monetary loss, customer impact, or compliance risk, your experience is highly relevant, regardless of industry.\nCrypto and Blockchain (Good to Have, Not Mandatory):\nUnderstanding of cryptocurrency ecosystems and blockchain fundamentals is a plus.\nPrior experience with exchanges, wallets, custody, or Web3 systems is helpful but not required.\nWhat matters more is the ability and willingness to learn the domain deeply and
