We play to the highest level of professional cricket with a history stretching back over 155 years.\nOur vision is to become Worcestershire’s premier destination for live sports, entertainment & hospitality, whilst providing great experiences for everyone who comes to New Road.\nWe are passionate about our people and strive to make our working environment a welcoming and inclusive one, fuelling ambition with opportunities and support to help our people achieve their personal and professional goals.\nOur values of Trust, Inclusiveness, Kindness, Resilience and Togetherness, resonate across everything we do at the Club and define our culture and behaviours.\nPurpose of the Role:\nWe are looking for a reliable, hardworking and flexible Venue Operations Porter to support the smooth delivery of catering, hospitality, conferencing and event operations.\nThe role will be responsible for setting up and turning around rooms and event spaces to a high standard, ensuring all areas are clean, safe, presentable and prepared in line with each event requirement. This will include moving furniture, setting up tables and chairs, preparing catering areas, supporting the wider catering team, and assisting with general porter duties across the venue.\nThis is a hands-on role that requires flexibility, attention to detail and a willingness to work around the needs of the business, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and matchdays.\nKey Duties and Responsibilities:\nRoom Set-Ups and Event Preparation\n· Set up rooms and event spaces according to function sheets, event briefs and manager instructions.\n· Arrange tables, chairs, linen, staging, catering stations and other event furniture as required.\n· Ensure rooms are clean, tidy, well-presented and ready before guests, clients or members arrive.\n· Support room turnarounds between events, meetings, hospitality sittings and matchday operations.\n· Clear down rooms after events and return spaces to the required layout.\n· Check that all equipment, furniture and set-up requirements are in place and report any issues promptly.\n· Work closely with the catering, events and operations teams to ensure each event runs smoothly.\n· Assist with the movement of food, beverages, stock, equipment and catering supplies around the venue.\n· Support the catering team with preparation areas, service points and back-of-house requirements.\n· Ensure all catering equipment is handled safely and stored correctly after use.\n· Help maintain high standards of hygiene and presentation across all catering and hospitality areas.\nMatchday, Events and Operational Support\n· Support the set-up and breakdown of hospitality areas, bars, lounges, meeting rooms and public catering spaces.\n· Assist with deliveries, stock movement and equipment transport around the site.\n· Respond quickly and professionally to requests from managers during busy event periods.\n· Help ensure all spaces are safe, accessible and compliant with health and safety standards.\n· Provide general operational support across the venue when required.\nOther responsibilities:\nWe expect our people to demonstrate and promote our values at all times to ensure Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s brand is always held in the highest regard both internally and in public. Shifts may vary depending on fixtures, events, hospitality bookings and wider business needs.\nThe successful candidate must be willing to work:\nEarly mornings (potentially 4am or 5am starts)\nLate nights\nEvenings\nWeekends\nBank holidays where required (time off in lieu will be given)\nMatchdays and major event days\nVariable shift patterns based on business demand\nThe role will require a positive attitude towards flexible working and the ability to adapt to changing priorities at short notice.\nThe ideal candidate will be:\nReliable, punctual and hardworking.\nPhysically fit and comfortable with manual handling, including lifting and moving furniture.\nFlexible with working hours and willing to work around business needs.\nAble to follow instructions and work from room layouts or function sheets.\nOrganised, practical and calm under pressure.\nA good team player with a positive, can-do attitude.\nAble to work quickly while maintaining high standards.\nPolite, professional and well-presented.\nAware of the importance of cleanliness, safety and attention to detail.\nSkills and Experience:\nEssential\nPrevious experience in a catering, events, hospitality, cleaning, facilities or porter role.\nAbility to carry out physical work, including lifting, moving and setting up furniture.\nGood communication skills.\nAbility to work as part of a team.\nFlexible availability, including evenings and weekends.\nUnderstanding of basic health and safety requirements.\nDesirable\nPrevious experience working in a sports venue, events venue, hotel, conference centre or hospitality environment.\nKnowledge of food hygiene practices.\nManual handling training.\nExperience working on busy matchdays or large-scale events.\nYou will need to have the Right to Work in the UK or be able to independently obtain this by the start date.
