In this role, the Platform Engineering Manager leads the design and operation of WCG’s cloud platform as a product, enabling secure, scalable, and efficient delivery of digital services. You will drive the shift to a modern platform engineering model focused on automation, self-service capabilities, and developer experience, with primary ownership of Azure-based cloud infrastructure (with AWS exposure), IaC, DevOps/DevSecOps, identity and access management, and system integrations, ensuring integrations are scalable and reusable. Partnering closely with Security, Architecture, and Development teams, you will embed security by design, drive the adoption of AI-enabled platform capabilities to enhance engineering productivity, operational insights, and accelerate innovation across the organization.\nWhat you'll do\n\nDefine, build, and operate the internal platform as a product, with clear users (developers, IT teams) and measurable outcomes\n\nDevelop and execute a platform roadmap, service catalog, and self-service capabilities (e.g., environment provisioning, templates, pipelines) including reusable components and standardized patterns\n\nContinuously improve developer experience (DevEx) by reducing friction and increasing autonomy\n\nArchitect and manage cloud environments in Azure and AWS, including high availability, disaster recovery, and resilience strategies\n\nLead adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform, Bicep, ARM)\n\nDefine scalable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure patterns\n\nPartner closely with Security teams to embed security into CI/CD pipelines and platform services\n\nImplement automated security controls (SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, secrets management) and ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements\n\nEnforce policy-as-code, least privilege access, zero-trust principles, and oversee identity and access management (including lifecycle, federation, and RBAC)\n\nLeverage AI/ML for operational insights, anomaly detection, cost optimization, incident response, and engineering productivity\n\nEstablish and govern scalable, secure, and reusable integration patterns across systems (APIs, messaging, event-driven architecture)\n\nDrive maturity of CI/CD pipelines and release automation\n\nEnable fully automated provisioning and deployment workflows and reduce manual effort through automation\n\nImplement observability practices (monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting) and support reliability targets (SLOs/SLAs, incident response, continuous improvement\n\nContribute to platform governance, standards, and alignment across security, architecture, and development teams\n\nWhat you bring\nCapabilities and experience:\nPlatform product mindset (treating internal platforms as products)\n\nDeep cloud and infrastructure expertise\n\nDevSecOps and security-first thinking\n\nIntegration and API architecture knowledge\n\nAI/automation awareness and practical application\n\nLeadership and team development\n\nSystems thinking and scalability focus\n\nStrong communication and stakeholder engagement\n\nEssential Requirements:\nBachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field\n\nSeven (7) + years in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering\n\nThree (3) + years in leadership roles\n\nStrong experience with Microsoft Azure; working knowledge of AWS\n\nHands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM)\n\nExperience implementing DevSecOps practices and secure pipelines\n\nExperience designing and managing integrations and APIs\n\nFamiliarity with AI tools and their application in engineering workflows\n\nExperience with observability, monitoring, reliability engineering, and incident management practices\n\nStrong understanding of identity and access management, including lifecycle and access control models\n\nExperience working in Agile/DevOps environments\n\nPreferred Criteria:\nAzure Solutions Architect Expert / DevOps Engineer Expert\n\nAWS Certifications\n\nCertified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar\n\nExperience implementing platform engineering / internal developer platforms\n\nExperience with AI/ML platforms or MLOps concepts\n\nExperience with FinOps practices and cloud cost governance\n\nExperience in regulated or security-sensitive environments\n\nWhat we offer\nCompetitive salary of $120,000 - $130,000 per year\n\nComprehensive and flexible health and dental benefits\n\nRRSP Matching program of 1.5% base earnings\n\nOngoing learning and development opportunities\n\nGenerous time-off policies that promote work/life balance\n\nA diverse and inclusive workplace with a track record of high employee engagement and teamwork\n\nThe opportunity to do work that makes a difference!\n\nWCG is strengthened by diversity.
