Lead Engineer - Backend

You will be a Technical Lead who'll wear multiple hats - from architecting our platform to shipping high-quality code, monitoring production systems, and mentoring the team. You'll be one of the earliest technical hires, with significant autonomy to shape our tech stack and engineering culture.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a small but growing engineering team (currently 3-4 engineers) while being deeply hands-on with coding.
• Build and scale our core financial infrastructure from the ground up.
• Work directly with founders to build a high-performing consumer product.
• Navigate the complexities of Indian fintech regulations while maintaining startup speed.
• Handle integrations with financial data and service providers.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues across the systems and the stack.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of engineering experience, with some leadership experience.
• Strong hands-on coding skills - you love to write code.
• Excellent debugging and optimisation skills.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, low-latency serving systems, and async processing systems running in the cloud (GCP/AWS/Azure).
• Comfort with ambiguity and rapid changes typical in a startup.
• Knowledge of Indian capital markets tech (trading/mutual funds/demat) and the Indian payment ecosystem.
• Basic understanding of SEBI regulations and compliance requirements.
