Our objective is to empower all our developers to build and own their systems end-to-end.\nWe're a modern infrastructure engineering team, believing strongly in testing, automation, and standardization through software. We operate in both physical data centers and AWS environments, and leverage open source technologies such as containers, MariaDB, NGINX, Jenkins, and Chef, as well as build tools and services using Go and Java to deliver automated infrastructure to our engineers and ultimately serve our clients.\nAbout Wealthfront Engineering\nWealthfront’s culture centers around continuous learning, innovation, and quality-driven software development. With high quality software as our ultimate engineering objective, our key tactic is automation:\nWealthfront software automates the financial services we provide to our clients, and within these services we automate the collection of data that we learn from on our way to making our services even better.\nWealthfront engineers function as builder/operators, with dual responsibility for building the system and operating it in production. Any toil that this brings about is automated away by engineers. This investment in automation is expected, and the prioritization of it is always built into our planning and execution.\nWealthfront engineers automate our development processes. For example, Wealthfront engineers automate all of our testing. Manual testing is not part of the software development lifecycle at Wealthfront.\nWealthfront engineers automate observability in case of failure. If something is up, our systems inform engineers appropriately. If our systems are quiet, they are healthy.\nIf you are drawn to being an engineer within such an environment, and having outsized impact as an engineer at a magnitude that is only available within a company achieving greatness at our size (~350 employees, half in engineering), then we want to hear from you!\nAs a member of the team, you will:\nMaintain our core infrastructure by writing software to automate application deployment, configure our infrastructure, and manage critical services such as our databases.\nEnsure that mission critical services operate reliably by triaging and fixing operational issues in linux environments as an on-call engineer, participating in post-mortems, and implementing improvements to prevent future issues.\nDesign, implement, and deploy internal tools and services to accelerate productivity of the wider Engineering team and enable direct ownership of operations.\nHelp manage our server hardware in our physical data centers which may occasionally include travel to our Bay Area or New Jersey data centers for onsite projects.\nBe involved in key decisions regarding the evolution of our infrastructure\nThis role could be a fit if you have:\nA BS or MS in Computer Science or an Engineering field\nExperience with running and troubleshooting modern Linux systems and services in production\n2+ years of experience developing reliable production-grade software in Java, Go, or other similar languages\nProficiency with at least one automation technology such as Terraform, Chef, or Puppet\nSuccessfully designed and deployed mission-critical complex distributed systems\nExcellent critical thinking and communications skills with a desire to both learn from and educate your peers\nOnce you join, Wealthfront will:\nPair you
