PHP/IOP Behavioral Health Program | Monday-Friday | Clinical Leadership

Are you an experienced behavioral health clinician ready to step into a leadership-focused role where you can mentor clinicians, influence program quality, and help shape exceptional patient care?

We are seeking a Clinical Director to provide clinical leadership and oversight for an adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) / Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This is primarily a clinical leadership and supervisory position-not a traditional caseload-carrying therapist role.

The Clinical Director will oversee approximately 3-4 therapists and interns, based on licensure, ensure clinical quality and documentation standards, and collaborate closely with senior leadership, physicians, Utilization Review, and the multidisciplinary treatment team. While there is no regular caseload, the Clinical Director should be comfortable stepping in to support higher-acuity or troubled clients when clinically necessary.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Monday-Friday schedule
  • No regular therapist caseload
  • Leadership opportunity overseeing a small clinical team
  • Direct influence on clinical quality, programming, and staff development
  • Collaborative work with executive leadership, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Opportunity to mentor therapists and interns
  • Adult PHP/IOP behavioral health environment

What You'll Do

Clinical Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for therapists, interns, and other clinical team members.
  • Monitor individual therapy, group therapy, treatment planning, and clinical documentation to ensure high standards of care.
  • Lead multidisciplinary Clinical Treatment Team and staffing meetings.
  • Provide clinical consultation and guidance on complex or higher-acuity patient situations.
  • Step in to provide individual or group therapy when clinically necessary.
  • Evaluate staff performance, provide constructive feedback, and establish professional development goals.
  • Provide appropriate clinical supervision, education, and ongoing staff development.
  • Develop staff schedules and maintain appropriate clinical coverage.

Quality, Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure clinical documentation is accurate, complete, timely, and compliant with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Support Performance Improvement / Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain familiarity with accreditation standards, including Joint Commission/JCAHO requirements.
  • Evaluate program quality and identify opportunities to improve clinical effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure clinicians maintain required education, credentials, and licensure.
  • Support adherence to HIPAA, patient privacy, infection control, safety, and risk-management requirements.

Program & Operational Leadership

  • Partner closely with the CEO, physicians, Utilization Review, and Senior Management Team.
  • Help develop, evaluate, and modify clinical programming based on patient and organizational needs.
  • Coordinate clinical services with ancillary departments and oversee case management activities.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and evaluating clinical staff.
  • Monitor team morale and promote a collaborative, supportive, and accountable clinical culture.
  • Maintain an effective clinical organizational structure and appropriately delegate responsibilities.
  • Help ensure staffing levels remain effective while operating within budgetary requirements.

Patient Care & Safety

  • Promote a safe, structured, therapeutic environment for adult patients.
  • Participate in treatment planning and evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
  • Collaborate with medical staff regarding patient care and treatment needs.
  • Assess patients as appropriate and provide clinical intervention when additional support is required.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and protected health information are handled in accordance with federal and state requirements.
  • Immediately escalate appropriate patient safety, incident, privacy, and risk-management concerns.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Education

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Counseling, or another related behavioral health field.

Licensure

Current applicable professional licensure such as:

LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, or LPC

Licensure must be appropriate for the position and required supervisory responsibilities.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of administrative, supervisory, or management experience within a behavioral health or related healthcare environment.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring clinical professionals strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Performance Improvement / Continuous Quality Improvement practices.
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission/JCAHO standards.
  • Strong understanding of psychopathology, diagnostic assessment, behavioral health treatment, and chemical dependency/substance use treatment.
  • Experience with PHP, IOP, inpatient, residential, or other structured behavioral health programs is highly desirable.

The Ideal Clinical Director

The successful candidate is a confident clinical leader who knows how to balance patient care, staff development, compliance, documentation, and program operations. They can effectively supervise clinicians while also stepping into challenging clinical situations when additional expertise is needed.

They are organized, approachable, collaborative, and comfortable communicating with everyone from therapists and interns to physicians and executive leadership. Most importantly, they are passionate about developing strong clinical teams and maintaining an environment where patients receive consistent, high-quality, compassionate care.
