In this role, you will handle audits from beginning to completion, support independent assurance for the Board, and advance Internal Audit processes across the organisation. \nThis role is well suited to an experienced audit leader who values variety, a clear area of responsibility, and close involvement with the UK payment systems that support daily life and commerce. With 12.5 billion transactions worth over £11 trillion processed through the systems we maintain, the context for this work is substantial, visible and grounded in essential services.\nAccountabilities\nManage end-to-end audit assignments across planning, fieldwork, reporting and follow-up in line with Internal Audit methodology and professional standards.\nSupervise Audit Managers by reviewing work, giving clear direction and maintaining quality across audit delivery.\nAssess risks and controls across assigned business areas, including payments, technology, projects and programmes, finance, third-party management, risk management and data analytics.\nWork with stakeholders to identify emerging risks, agree audit scope and develop terms of reference, findings, management actions and final reports.\nContribute to the annual audit plan by proposing audits and assurance activity for your portfolio of business areas and specialist topics.\nDeliver consultancy assignments that provide internal audit insight on governance, risk and control matters.\nIdentify, implement and evaluate improvements to Internal Audit practices by updating methods, tools and working processes.\nMonitor developments in internal audit and the payments sector and apply relevant changes to audit planning, delivery and recommendations within your specialist areas.\nQualifications, Skills and Experience\nProfessional qualification in audit, accounting or risk, such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIIA or CISA.\nExperience leading internal audit engagements and supervising teams across planning, fieldwork and reporting.\nExperience in operational auditing across business functions.\nKnowledge of financial services and payments, including key risks, controls and regulatory expectations.\nExperience presenting audit findings and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders.\nPay.UK Behaviours\nAt Pay.UK, our behaviours are central to who we are and how we operate.
