Leveraging an extensive professional network built over years of trade publishing and corporate storytelling, the company helps organizations elevate their brand visibility while solving critical hiring needs.

Trueline, a nationally established, vertically integrated real estate development company, is seeking a Tax Manager to join their team in Nashville, TN. This is an opportunity for an experienced partnership tax professional to take ownership of a sophisticated tax function supporting a diverse portfolio of real estate development, multifamily, mixed-use, and residential investments.

Reporting to senior financial leadership, you'll serve as the internal tax expert and primary liaison between the company's accounting team and outside tax advisors. The right person brings strong partnership tax experience, understands complex multi-entity structures, and can move comfortably between compliance, planning, research, and strategic tax initiatives.

What You'll Do as the Tax Manager:

  • Manage federal, state, and other required tax compliance across a complex real estate organization
  • Oversee third-party tax preparers and review outsourced tax work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Coordinate partnership tax filings and supporting calculations, with particular emphasis on Form 1065 returns
  • Evaluate the tax implications of business, investment, and real estate activities and identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency
  • Research evolving federal and state tax requirements and advise leadership on potential business impacts
  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact for outside tax advisors, preparers, auditors, and other third-party professionals
  • Partner closely with accounting and finance teams to gather information, resolve tax matters, and maintain accurate reporting
  • Review tax accounting policies, procedures, and controls to help ensure reliable financial information and appropriate application of accounting principles
  • Coordinate with accounting on the timely payment and administration of real estate taxes
  • Support tax planning initiatives, special projects, and ad hoc financial analysis
  • Maintain organized documentation and appropriately safeguard confidential financial and tax information
  • Help leadership anticipate tax considerations as the company's portfolio and operations continue to evolve

Must-Haves as the Tax Manager:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 4-6+ years of direct tax experience within public accounting, corporate tax, or a combination of the two
  • Hands-on partnership tax experience, including preparation and/or substantive review of Form 1065 returns
  • Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state income tax compliance
  • Understanding of partnership ownership structures and the tax considerations associated with them
  • Strong foundation in tax accounting, accrual-basis accounting, and financial reporting
  • Experience coordinating multiple tax filings, deadlines, outside providers, and internal stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Advanced organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and appropriately handle highly confidential information

Nice-to-Haves as the Tax Manager:

  • CPA license
  • Public accounting experience
  • Real estate tax experience
  • 2-4+ years supporting real estate development, investment, private equity real estate, multifamily, homebuilding, or a related environment
  • Experience managing outsourced tax preparation relationships
  • Exposure to complex multi-entity or partnership structures
  • Experience advising internal accounting or finance teams on tax implications and compliance requirements

We Offer:

  • Base salary around $150,000, depending on experience
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • HSA and dependent FSA options
  • 401(k) with a 5% employer match
  • Group life, AD&D, and long-term disability coverage
  • Employee assistance program
  • Opportunity to become the internal tax authority for a sophisticated national real estate platform
  • Direct exposure to senior financial leadership and outside tax advisors
  • Broad responsibilities spanning compliance, planning, reporting, research, and strategic tax projects
  • Opportunity to work within a vertically integrated organization involved in real estate development, construction, design, property management, multifamily, mixed-use, and residential communities
  • Long-term opportunity with an established company continuing to expand its national portfolio

We welcome smart and ambitious applicants and recruit, refer, hire, place, and promote without regard to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by federal or state law.
