This role combines yard hostler and shuttle driving responsibilities, ensuring the timely movement of trailers and freight while maintaining compliance with applicable safety regulations, company policies, and operating procedures.\n Essential Job Functions:\nEvery effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. However, this list is not exhaustive and does not exclude other duties that may be assigned if they are similar, related, or necessary to the position.\nMaintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and meet all applicable qualifications to operate commercial motor vehicles.\nSafely operate a yard tractor to move, position, and organize trailers within the yard.\nOperate a Class A commercial vehicle to shuttle trailers, freight, and equipment between designated company facilities and warehouses.\nPerform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and equipment, promptly reporting defects, maintenance needs, or safety concerns.\nEnsure trailers are properly connected, secured, and positioned before moving equipment.\nMaintain accurate records of trailer movements, shuttle trips, vehicle inspections, and other required documentation.\nCoordinate with warehouse, transportation, and operations teams to support timely trailer movements and daily service requirements.\nVerify trailer identification, assignments, and load information as required to ensure accurate movement of freight and equipment.\nComply with applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, traffic laws, hours-of-service requirements, and company safety policies.\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe yard and work environment.\nOperate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers, as needed and when properly trained and authorized.\nFollow all company standard operating procedures (SOPs) and established safety practices.\nParticipate in required safety meetings and training.\nWork a variety of shifts and schedules to accommodate operational and customer requirements.\nCollaborate with team members and other departments to promote operational efficiency and service excellence.\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\nRequirements\nQualifications:\nAbility to multi-task in a fast paced environment\nSafely and skillfully use assigned equipment in a busy warehouse environment\nManage priorities in a timely and efficient manner within critical deadlines\nAccuracy in handling customers’ orders\nTeam oriented with a continuous improvement outlook\nWorking knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems such as Synapse\nStrong customer service skills\nAbility to communicate effectively\nEducation, Experiences, Certificates/Licenses and/or Registrations:\nHigh School diploma or GED \nMinimum 3 years of warehouse experience \nMinimum 1 year as a certified operator of MHE \nClass A license required\n Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required:\nWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand to perform work. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, smell, talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy and the employee may be exposed to extreme weather. The work environment is a general warehouse/distribution environment with MHE operations.
