This apprenticeship will provide hands-on experience and expert training in laying a variety of flooring materials, including carpets, vinyl, linoleum, and rubber flooring. No experience is needed - full training will be provided through your apprenticeship provider and day-to-day support from the team.\nAs a Floor layer Apprentice, you will learn the specialist skills involved in preparing, fitting, and finishing a wide range of flooring materials including:\nTextile flooring: such as carpets, carpet tiles, and underlay\n\nResilient flooring: including vinyl sheets, tiles, and slip-resistant coverings\n\nYou’ll work alongside experienced floor layers learning how to prepare surfaces, measure and cut materials, and install high-quality flooring inresidential settings across the East Midlands.\nKey Responsibilities:\nAssist with preparing subfloors and damp-proofing, including cleaning, levelling, and selecting and applying adhesives.\n\nLearn techniques to accurately measure, cut, and fit flooring materials such as carpets, vinyl, and rubber.\n\nInstall underlays, trims, and finishes to achieve a high-quality result.\n\nLearn how to accurately seam, stretch and edge finishing\n\nWork safely with hand / power tools and cutting equipment.\n\nFollow site safety regulations and maintain a clean workspace.\n\nDevelop knowledge of different flooring materials and their applications.\n\nWork as part of a team and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.\n\nAttend college/training sessions as required to complete your apprenticeship standard.\n\nSkills & Requirements:\nA keen interest in flooring and practical, hands-on work.\n\nGood attention to detail and a willingness to learn.\n\nBasic mathematical skills for measuring and cutting materials.\n\nAbility to follow instructions and work independently and as part of a team.\n\nPhysical fitness and ability to carry materials and work on your feet.\n\nA positive attitude and commitment to completing the apprenticeship.\n\nOutstanding communication skills both with colleagues and customers\n\nExcellent attendance and timekeeping.\n\nA driving license (or willingness to learn) is beneficial but not essential. You will be trained at the employer within the workplace and also at WEBS Floorlaying training facility in Loughborough or Nottingham on a block basis for a week at a time every 10 weeks, costs are covered by the employer.\nYou will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training.
