This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.\n\nPurpose of the Role: \nThis role is responsible for supporting the mechanical engineering activities within the Snowy 2.0 project and the TBM team. The role's primary purpose is to assist in designing, analysing, and implementing mechanical systems, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards.\n\nQualifications:\nDegree: Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical).\nProfessional Status: Membership with Engineers Australia is preferred.\nSpecific OEM training certifications for TBM operation or maintenance are highly desirable.\nLicensing: Valid Manual Driver’s License and High-Risk Work Licenses are essential for plant access.\nLicensing: Confined Space Entry (essential), Working at Heights, and Basic Rigging/Slinging.\nWhite Card.\nExperience:\nIndustry: 3+ years specifically working with TBMs (EPB, Slurry, or Hard Rock shields).\n5+ years in a Plant & Equipment role involving large-scale rotating equipment or hydraulic machinery.\nProficiency in CAD and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).\n\nRequired Competencies: \nDeep understanding of closed-loop hydraulic systems and the ability to read complex fluid power schematics.\nUnderstanding of the mechanical tolerances required for segment lining and TBM steering.\nExperience in planning the install/removal of massive components in confined underground spaces.\nAbility to liaise with OEMs for specialized parts and technical support.\nStrong theoretical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices.\nProficiency in using CAD software for drafting and design.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\nEffective communication skills for collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.\nAttention to detail and accuracy in work.\nEagerness to learn and apply new skills.\nAbility to adapt to fast-paced project environments.\nTime management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint\nComfortable working in remote, high-pressure environments on a 14/7 roster with extended hours.\n\nCore Accountabilities and Responsibilities:\nMaximize the \"Advance Rate\" by ensuring all mechanical, hydraulic, and lubrication systems are functioning within OEM specifications.\nCollaborate with the engineering team to analyse and modify designs based on project requirements and constraints.\nCutterhead Management: Monitor and manage the wear-and-tear of cutting tools.\nPlan and supervise \"Maintenance Shifts\" (stoppages) for cutterhead inspections and tool changes.\nOversee the complex high-pressure hydraulic circuits that power the thrust cylinders, torque motors, and segment erectors.\nManage the maintenance of the back-up systems, including conveyors, grout plants, ventilation ducting, and cooling water circuits.\nInterpret TBM PLC data (thrust, torque, penetration rates) to diagnose mechanical stress or potential failures before they occur.\nProvide detailed daily reports to the P&E Manager regarding machine health, upcoming component replacements, and any structural fatigue.\nLead the mechanical team during critical failures (e.g., conveyor belt tears, hydraulic leaks, or main bearing issues) to minimize \"standing time\" costs.\nPrepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation using CAD software.\nSupport the implementation and installation of mechanical systems on-site.\nContribute to project meetings and discussions to provide insights and updates on mechanical design progress.\nParticipate in design reviews and identify potential design improvements.\nAssist in creating and maintaining engineering documentation, reports, and records.\nPrepare SOW, Material and Equipment procurement request and follow up with Suppliers and FGJV Global supply chain team.\nComply with project safety and quality standards in all mechanical engineering activities.\nLead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on significant equipment failures to prevent recurrence.\nUtilize the company’s CMMS to track asset health, manage work orders, and analyse Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).\nReview technical bids, manage specialized service providers on-site, and ensure parts procurement meets engineering specifications.\nThe above listed authorities & responsibilities are only a guide and may change as directed by your Manager/Supervisor or as per the requirements of FGJV Management.\n\nAs an employee you will be eligible to participate in a number of additional employee benefits.
