We are an international team of around 60 professionals, with 26 colleagues based in Espoo and teams in the US, Taiwan and India. https://www.unigraf.fi/\nAre you an experienced hardware professional with a strong background in FPGA-based hardware and high-speed digital design - ready to take broader technical ownership?\nWe are now looking for a System Hardware Architect to join our R&D team in Espoo.\nThis senior role combines deep hands-on expertise with system-level thinking. You will take ownership of hardware architecture from concept to production, make key architectural and component-level decisions, and work closely with our hardware, FPGA, firmware and software professionals.\nWhat will you be working on?\nAs System Hardware Architect, you will play a key role in shaping Unigraf’s hardware platforms and their future development.\nYou will:\ndefine system and subsystem architectures, interfaces and technical requirements\n\ntake ownership from concept and feasibility through prototyping, verification and production\n\nmake architectural and component-level decisions considering performance, power consumption, cost, reliability, risk and manufacturability\n\nwork with high-speed digital hardware, FPGA/SoC-based platforms and complex embedded systems\n\nensure signal integrity, power integrity, EMC, testability and HW/SW interfaces are considered in the overall design\n\ndefine bring-up, verification and validation approaches and manage system-level hardware risks\n\ndrive the hardware technology roadmap and evaluate new technologies, components and supplier solutions\n\nlead design reviews and support and mentor experienced hardware engineers.\n\nThe role combines hands-on expertise with system-level ownership and technical leadership. You should enjoy diving into engineering details while also seeing and influencing the bigger picture.\nWhat are we looking for?\nWe are looking for a senior hardware professional with 10+ years of experience in hardware design and development, ideally in demanding product development environments.\nWe expect you to have:\na relevant technical degree, preferably M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar\n\nstrong hands-on experience in hardware and PCB design, ideally including FPGA-based boards and complex high-speed designs\n\nsolid understanding of digital and analog circuit design, PCB manufacturing, high-speed digital signaling, signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), power conversion and EMC\n\ngood knowledge of FPGA and/or SoC technologies, including high-speed transceivers and SerDes\n\nfamiliarity with AI-assisted design and development workflows\n\na proven track record of taking complex hardware products from concept to production\n\nexperience in technical ownership, design reviews and guiding other engineers\n\nability to make sound trade-offs between performance, reliability, cost, schedule and manufacturability\n\nexcellent spoken and written English.\n\nYou should also have good knowledge of at least one major technology ecosystem, such as FPGA, SoC, CPU/GPU, PCIe, DisplayPort, HDMI, USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi/BT or MIPI.\nFinnish language skills are considered an advantage but are not required.\nNice to have\nExperience in one or more of the following is considered an advantage:\nFPGA application design and/or ASIC integration\n\nmanufacturing processes and supply chain\n\nthermal, mechanical, acoustical or optical design\n\nsoftware/firmware architectures, state machines and protocols\n\nYou do not need to be an expert in every area.
