within pharmaceutical, API, formulation, or other regulated manufacturing environments.\nRequirements\nKey Responsibilities\nLead direct procurement and purchasing activities for R&D and plant operations.\nDevelop and execute strategic sourcing plans for APIs, formulations, raw materials, and other relevant procurement categories.\nIdentify, evaluate, onboard, and develop reliable suppliers based on cost, quality, capability, and delivery performance.\nLead commercial negotiations covering pricing, payment terms, contracts, lead times, quality requirements, and supply commitments.\nManage strategic supplier relationships and ensure consistent supplier performance.\nOversee procurement contracts, budgets, purchase planning, and commercial compliance.\nDrive cost optimisation, savings initiatives, process improvements, and procurement efficiency.\nMonitor market trends, commodity movements, supplier capacity, and procurement risks to support informed sourcing decisions.\nDevelop mitigation strategies for supply, pricing, quality, and vendor-related risks.\nCollaborate closely with R&D, Plant Operations, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to align procurement with business requirements.\nEnsure timely availability of materials to support research, production, and operational requirements.\nEstablish and strengthen procurement processes, policies, controls, and governance standards.\nAnalyse procurement data and supplier performance to identify opportunities for improvement.\nLead, mentor, and develop the procurement team while establishing clear performance standards.\nSupport supplier audits, compliance requirements, and resolution of procurement-related issues.\nMaintain strong documentation and reporting around sourcing, contracts, supplier performance, budgets, and savings.\nContinuously evaluate new suppliers, sourcing opportunities, and procurement technologies to improve efficiency and resilience.\nWhat Makes You a Great Fit\n16+ years of experience in procurement, purchase, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or a related leadership function.\nProven experience leading procurement/purchase functions with responsibility for strategic sourcing and supplier management.\nStrong experience in R&D and plant procurement, preferably within pharmaceutical, API, formulation, chemical, or another regulated manufacturing environment.\nStrong expertise in supplier identification, evaluation, development, performance management, and relationship management.\nExcellent negotiation and contract management skills with a strong commercial orientation.\nDemonstrated experience driving cost savings, procurement efficiencies, process improvements, and supplier optimisation.\nStrong understanding of procurement planning, budgets, supply continuity, and supplier risk management.\nStrong analytical and financial skills with the ability to evaluate commercial proposals and sourcing decisions.\nExcellent stakeholder-management and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across R&D, Plant, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain functions.\nProven leadership experience with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop procurement teams.\nStrong understanding of procurement compliance, governance, documentation, and operational controls.\nAbility to analyse market trends and proactively identify procurement opportunities and risks.\nGraduate or postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related discipline is preferred.\nStrong problem-solving, decision-making, organisational, and execution capabilities.\nAbility to operate effectively in a complex, fast-paced, and regulated business
