The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Backend Engineering, with experience building robust APIs, designing efficient databases, optimizing application performance, and developing secure, maintainable services.\nIn this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, product managers, DevOps engineers, and data teams, to deliver high-quality software solutions. You will take ownership of backend architecture, technical implementation, and system reliability while contributing to engineering best practices and long-term technology strategy.\nCandidates with additional experience in Distributed Systems, Data Engineering, and Platform Engineering will be preferred, particularly those who have worked on large-scale applications, cloud-native infrastructure, and complex data-intensive systems.\nRequirements\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Backend Development and Architecture\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and services.\nBuild secure, reliable, and high-performance RESTful APIs and, where appropriate, GraphQL services.\nDevelop modular, maintainable, and reusable code following established software engineering principles.\nMake architectural decisions that support scalability, reliability, and long-term product growth.\nIdentify and resolve performance bottlenecks, production issues, and technical debt.\n2. Database Management and Optimization\nDesign and optimize database schemas, queries, indexes, and data access patterns.\nWork with relational and NoSQL databases to support application requirements.\nEnsure data integrity, consistency, availability, and efficient storage.\nImplement caching strategies and other performance optimization techniques.\n3. System Reliability and Scalability\nDevelop backend systems capable of handling increasing traffic and growing data volumes.\nImplement monitoring, logging, error handling, and fault-tolerance mechanisms.\nParticipate in code reviews, automated testing, debugging, and production deployments.\nCollaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to improve deployment workflows and system observability.\n4. Cross-Functional Collaboration\nWork closely with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.\nMentor junior engineers and contribute to coding standards, documentation, and engineering practices.\nEvaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems.\nRequired Skills and Qualifications\nMust-have: Strong experience in Backend Engineering, including application development, API design, system architecture, and performance optimization.\nProficiency in one or more backend programming languages, such as Python, Java, Go, Node.js, or similar technologies.\nStrong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and software design principles.\nExperience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases, caching systems, and API integrations.\nFamiliarity with version control, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and production debugging.\nUnderstanding of application security, authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.\nGood-to-Have Skills\nDistributed Systems: Experience with microservices, message queues, event-driven architectures, concurrency, and fault-tolerant systems.\nData Engineering: Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, streaming systems, and large-scale data processing.\n Platform Engineering: Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, and developer platforms.\nExposure to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is an advantage.\nIdeal Candidate\nThe ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong analytical skills, sound engineering judgment, and a commitment to building dependable software.
