Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.\nMake your impact\nThis role supports Mechanical Tradespersons in the maintenance of fixed plant equipment, while carrying out protective coating applications to prevent wear and corrosion. The position also plays a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient workshop environment, delivering high-quality work and upholding world-class safety and housekeeping standards.\nWhat you’ll do\nProtective Coatings Application: Apply abrasive blasting, high-pressure water cleaning, painting, spray and brush/roller-applied coatings, and rubber lining to tanks, structures, valves, pipework, and related equipment to prevent wear and corrosion and extend asset life.\nMechanical Support: Assist skilled mechanical tradespersons with pump assembly, inspection, and mechanical preparation both on customer sites and in the workshop.\nQuality Assurance: Inspect completed work, including testing rubber linings for faults, identify quality issues, and recommend or initiate corrective actions to ensure high-quality workmanship.\nWorkshop Maintenance: Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient workshop environment by adhering to world-class standards of housekeeping, safety, and continuous improvement.\nTool and Equipment Handling: Safely operate tools, presses, and machinery; ensure tools, materials, and equipment are cleaned, maintained, stored, and transported correctly.\nDaily Role: The successful candidate will be hands-on daily, supporting tradespersons, applying protective coatings, and maintaining safety and quality standards.\nSuccess Metrics: Success will be measured by the quality and durability of coatings applied, adherence to safety protocols, and contribution to a clean and efficient work environment.\nTravel Requirements: Minimal travel expected; primarily onsite work at Kalgoorlie location.\nSafety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.\nWhat you’ll bring\nPrevious experience in industrial painting, abrasive blasting, surface preparation, or protective coatings.\nHigh school education or equivalent with the ability to read and understand safety rules, work instructions, and procedure manuals.\nStrong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, including hazard identification and adherence to procedures.\nPhysically fit for manual work, including standing and walking for extended periods, repetitive movements, and lifting up to 20 kg.\nWhy join Weir?\nWe live our values we think safety first, do the right thing, respect each other, aim high, and delight our customers.
