We help the world’s largest and most innovative enterprises and research organizations, including 12 of the Fortune 50, achieve discoveries, insights, and business outcomes faster and more sustainably.\nWhat you'll be doing\nWe are looking for a highly technical and experienced Engineering Manager to lead multiple engineering teams within our Platform Group.\nThe Platform Group owns the critical layer where WEKA's software meets the hardware, enabling exceptional performance and scalability across our distributed storage infrastructure.\nThe group develops some of the most performance-sensitive components in our system, spanning high-speed networking (RDMA, DPDK, InfiniBand), NVMe storage access, memory management, and low-level Linux components.\nOperating at the critical path of every I/O operation, the Platform Group tackles complex engineering challenges at the intersection of networking, storage, operating systems, and hardware optimization.\nThis is an opportunity to lead highly skilled engineering teams while remaining deeply involved in technical strategy, architecture, and critical engineering decisions that directly impact WEKA's performance and scalability.\nAs an Engineering Manager, you'll:\nLead, mentor, and develop multiple teams of highly skilled software engineers working on complex, low-level infrastructure.\nDrive technical strategy, architecture, and execution across critical Platform components, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.\nProvide strong technical leadership, actively participating in architectural discussions, challenging technical decisions, and guiding teams through complex engineering trade-offs.\nOversee the development and optimization of performance-critical systems across networking, storage, and low-level Linux infrastructure.\nDrive engineering excellence, technical quality, and execution while identifying opportunities for performance and architectural improvements.\nCollaborate closely with architects, engineering leaders, and cross-functional teams to align technical priorities with product and business objectives.\nBuild and develop high-performing teams, foster technical leadership, and establish a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.\nRequirements\n10+ years of software development experience, with a strong technical foundation in low-level systems programming using C/C++.\nProven experience managing multiple software engineering teams, with the ability to lead senior engineers and technical leaders.\nDeep technical expertise in Linux-based systems, low-level software development, and performance-sensitive infrastructure.\nStrong technical background in at least one of the following areas: high-performance networking, storage I/O, or Linux systems.\nSolid understanding of system-level performance optimization, memory management, and hardware-software interactions.\nExperience designing, developing, or leading complex, large-scale, distributed or high-performance systems.\nAbility to lead complex architectural discussions, evaluate technical trade-offs, and provide meaningful technical guidance.\nStrong leadership, communication, and execution skills, with a proven ability to build and develop high-performing engineering teams.\nIt's nice if you have:\nHands-on experience with high-performance networking technologies such as RDMA, DPDK, InfiniBand, or RoCE.\nExperience with NVMe, SPDK, or high-performance storage systems.\nExperience with Linux Kernel internals, filesystem drivers, or kernel-level development.\nFamiliarity with advanced memory management and performance optimization techniques, including NUMA, huge pages, or eBPF/XDP.\nExperience with NVIDIA/Mellanox networking technologies, high-bandwidth Ethernet, DPUs, or GPUDirect Storage.\n\nThe WEKA Way\nWe are Accountable: We take full ownership, always-even when things don’t go as planned.
