Equipment being installed includes emergency lights, sirens, two-way radios, mobile data, communication equipment, and aftermarket equipment into passenger vehicles and light trucks for law enforcement and utility applications. Public Safety vehicle installation background preferred but not required. Candidate must possess own basic tools such as sockets, wrenches, and pliers. Candidate will communicate updates and issues on a regular basis with department head.Position is Open Until Filled.\n--\nJob Description\nVehicle Upfit - 60%\nPerform installation of specialized equipment.\nTest/troubleshoot specialized equipment.\nDisassemble the interior and exterior of new vehicles (seats, carpeting, flooring, dash and interior panels, headliners, lights to prepare vehicle for installation of new systems.\nComplete installations for diverse range of vehicle makes and models, including sedans, SUVs, commercial trucks, and heavy machinery.\nVehicle Maintenance - 20%\nWork out minor damage in body panels, fenders, skirting and sheet metal trim, and weld torn metal.\nRemove and install bolt-on components such as hoods, deck lids, fenders, trim, doors, glass and interior components, and verify dimensional accuracy.\nRemove and recover specialized equipment from end of life vehicles.\nMaintain and track materials for jobs.\nMaintain safe, clean, and orderly tools and work area.\nComplete all required paperwork and documentation.\n\nOther Duties as Required - 20%\nFollow policies, procedures, and the Weld County Code of Conduct.\nAdhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and appropriate release of information outlined in both.\nNot all duties mentioned may be applicable to every position, and the examples provided do not encompass all possible duties that may exist within this job classification.\n--\nRequired Qualifications\nRequired Education\nHigh School Diploma/GED \nPreferred Experience\n2 years of upfit experience. \nSkills and Abilities\nA good understanding of 12 VDC electrical systems for installing accessories. \nMaintain an orderly and clean working environment, keeping the installers area organized. \nMust have a general knowledge and ability to read electrical diagrams. \nExperience or knowledge of the following a plus: Vehicle Audio Systems, Mobile Video Systems, Vehicle Remote Starters, Vehicle Security Systems \nAble to operate and maneuver trailers. \nUnderstanding and ability to operate small powered and manual hand tools and equipment. \nAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and reports. \nAbility to write routine reports and simple correspondence. \nAbility to effectively present and communicate information in one on one and small group situations. \nAbility to learn and follow safety precautions common to labor positions. \nAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. \nAbility to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. \nAbility to illustrate and interpret graphs. \nAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed yet straight forward written and/or oral instructions. \nAbility to respond to and solve problems involving several variables in standard situations. \nAbility to utilize reference skills to locate accurate information quickly with minimal resource. \nAbility to function independently as well as in a team environment to complete all necessary duties. \nCandidate must pass criminal background check prior to employment start date.\n Licenses and Certifications\nDriving is essential in this position.\nCandidate must have a valid Driver’s License and Liability Insurance Upon Hire Required\nCandidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) evaluation and if hired, will be subject to continuous monthly MVR monitoring and random drug screens throughout employment. Required\nPre-employment substance screening is required for this position.\nThis position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening.
