This role requires someone who can lead technical design, guide engineers, improve engineering practices, and take end-to-end ownership from solution design through production deployment and support.\nIn this role, you will:\nLead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact\nAct as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines\nDesign, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs\nReview and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors\nMake decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives\nCollaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals\nLead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor\nRequired Qualifications:\n5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education\nDesired Qualifications:\nLead complex, large-scale technology initiatives with broad organizational impact, providing technical leadership from solution design through implementation and production.\nLead the architecture, design, and development of enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and Angular/React.\nRemain hands-on with design, coding, testing, debugging, code reviews, and technical problem-solving, particularly for complex and critical components.\nProvide technical leadership across backend, frontend, database, API, integration, and infrastructure layers.\nDesign and implement scalable, secure, resilient, high-performing, and maintainable applications aligned with enterprise architecture and engineering standards.\nEvaluate complex technology solutions considering business objectives, architectural requirements, scalability, security, performance, resiliency, and long-term maintainability.\nEstablish and drive engineering standards and best practices across architecture, coding, automated testing, CI/CD, security, observability, and production readiness.\nMake key technical decisions by evaluating industry best practices, emerging technologies, architectural alternatives, technical risks, and business trade-offs.\nLead architecture, design, and code reviews, identify technical risks, and ensure solutions meet established quality, security, reliability, and engineering standards.\nDrive application modernization, technical debt reduction, automation, performance optimization, and resiliency improvements.\nLead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex production issues, ensuring sustainable remediation and prevention of recurring issues.\nDrive adoption of CI/CD, DevSecOps, automated testing, observability, and production-readiness practices.\nMentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, raising engineering capability and development standards across the team.\nCollaborate with architects, product owners, engineering teams, senior technology leaders, and business stakeholders to resolve complex technical challenges and deliver strategic initiatives.\nJob Expectations:\nStrong hands-on expertise in Java 11/17/21 and Spring Boot\nStrong experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices\nExperience with Angular or React, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS\nStrong knowledge of SQL and relational databases\nExperience with Kafka or other event-driven and messaging technologies\nExperience with JUnit, Mockito, and automated unit and integration testing\nStrong working knowledge of Git, Maven/Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines\nExperience with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift\nExperience developing and deploying applications in cloud or enterprise private-cloud environments\nStrong understanding of distributed systems, integration patterns, scalability, performance, resiliency, and application security\nExperience with application monitoring, logging, tracing, observability, and production troubleshooting. \nPosting End Date:\n8 Nov 2026*Job posting may come down early due to volume of applicants.\nWe Value Equal Opportunity\nWells Fargo is an equal opportunity employer.
