This role drives a reliability-first and automation-first approach, improving resiliency, scalability, operational excellence, and engineering efficiency through standardized platforms, self-service capabilities, and cloud-native engineering practices.\nWorking closely with engineering, architecture, infrastructure, and security partners, the Principal Engineer influences enterprise technology strategy, platform modernization, and reliability initiatives while establishing engineering standards for cloud infrastructure, platform security, and container platforms. As a trusted advisor to leadership, this individual champions innovation, mentors senior engineers, and drives continuous improvement across the organization's cloud and platform engineering ecosystem.\nIn this role, you will:\nAct as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups\nLead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking\nTranslate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions\nProvide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions\nMaintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization\nStrategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership\nRequired Qualifications:\n7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education\n7+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevSecOps, Infrastructure Engineering, SRE\n5+ years of experience designing and implementing CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and engineering automation solutions.\n5+ years of experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or comparable container platforms.\n5+ years of experience leading enterprise-scale platform modernization or cloud transformation initiatives.\n3+ years of experience defining engineering standards, architecture patterns, or platform strategies.\n3+ years of experience with software delivery, automation, security, and operational resiliency practices.\n3+ years of demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive engineering outcomes across large organizations.\nDesired Qualifications:\nProgressive experience in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or related technology disciplines within large-scale enterprise environments.\nDeep understanding of SRE principles, including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident management, observability, resiliency engineering, disaster recovery, and operational excellence.\nExperience establishing enterprise standards and governance for platform operations, security, evergreen technology management, and engineering best practices across multiple organizations.\nExpertise in observability and monitoring platforms such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar enterprise solutions.\nProven ability to influence senior leaders, architects, and engineering organizations through technical leadership, strategic vision, and execution excellence.\nExceptional communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.\nIndustry certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Red Hat OpenShift, Cloud Platform Certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP), SRE, or equivalent experience preferred.\nJob Expectations:\nThis position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship\nThis position offers a hybrid work schedule\nMust be able to work on-site at any of the listed locations\nRelocation assistance is not available for this position\nJob Posting Locations:\n1525 W W T Harris Blvd., CHARLOTTE, North Carolina 28262\n401 Las Colinas Blvd W Bldg A, Irving, Texas 75039\nPosting End Date:\n20 Oct 2026*Job posting may come down early due to volume of applicants.\nWe Value Equal Opportunity\nWells Fargo is an equal opportunity employer.
