The role is involved in month-end reporting, general ledger and balance sheet review, budgeting, variance analysis, cash management, capital accounting, and Accounts Payable support. responsibility, and grow within the organization.\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nSupport the full accounting cycle for various business units, including month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, reclassifications, and financial reporting.\nReview and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate unusual items, and ensure required adjustments are completed. \nWork with department managers to monitor compliance with approved budgets and established accounting procedures, follow up on outstanding items, and escalate exceptions when required\nPrepare and analyze monthly budget-to-actual results, investigate significant variances, and follow up with department managers as required. \nAssist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, cash flow information, and other financial analysis.\nPrepare and review recurring accounting working papers, journal entries, reconciliations, and management reports.\nAssist with weekly cash-position reporting and banking-related accounting matters.\nProvide oversight and support to the Accounts Payable team, including reviewing payment batches, vendor banking changes, and payment-processing issues.\nReview and approve invoices and payment batches in accordance with established approval limits and internal controls.\nSupport the maintenance and improvement of Accounts Payable processes, systems, workflows, and procedures.\nProvide guidance, training, and backup support to accounting staff.\nAssist with accounting for capital assets.\nParticipate in accounting system implementations, testing, automation, and other process-improvement initiatives.\nProvide accounting support for special projects and other responsibilities as required. \nDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nCompletion of a diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution. \nThree to five years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end reporting, and variance analysis.\nA CPA designation, or active progress toward a CPA designation, is considered an asset.\nPrevious experience providing guidance or oversight to accounting staff is considered an asset.\nStrong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with computerized accounting, workflow, or ERP systems.\nExperience with MRI, Nexus, or similar accounting and invoice workflow systems is considered an asset.\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and follow them through to resolution.\nAbility to work independently, manage competing priorities and deadlines, investigate and resolve routine accounting issues, and determine when matters should be escalated.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with department managers, explain financial information clearly, and follow up professionally on outstanding items.\nA process-improvement mindset and willingness to learn, document, and improve accounting procedures. \nTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:\nThis is a full-time on-site position that is required to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.\nThis position is eligible for participation in our 4-day work week program.\nThis is a salaried position that will depend on experience and qualifications. \nMust be able to pass a basic security
