Werfen hires students with leadership potential and proven academic success. Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities. The Process Development Engineering Co-Op will support the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes used to produce high-quality products safely, efficiently, and cost effectively. The co-op will work closely with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to implement process improvements, develop automation solutions, and support new product introductions. The successful candidate will gain experience across multiple engineering disciplines, contributing to work cell design, assembly process improvement, tooling development, inventory management, and test automation projects that drive manufacturing efficiency and product quality.\nResponsibilities\nKey Accountabilities\nSupport pilot builds, prototype production, and new product introduction (NPI) efforts. \nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, and Operations to implement process improvements. \nDevelop and maintain process documentation such as work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flow diagrams. \nParticipate in equipment qualification, commissioning, and process characterization activities. \nPerform time studies, workflow analyses, and capacity assessments to optimize manufacturing operations. \nEvaluate new technologies, materials, and automation solutions to enhance manufacturing capability. \nGenerate technical reports and present findings, recommendations, and project updates to stakeholders. \nDevelopment of inventory control and systems for prototype builds. \nContribute to test system design and automation development. \nEssential Functions:\nApply programming skills in languages such as Python, LabVIEW, and TestStand for data analysis, automation, or test development. \nSolid working knowledge of basic electrical equipment, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies. \nDesign of tools and aids that improve the assembly and test of manufactured parts using CAD tools such as Creo. \nPerforms experiments, analyzes and interprets numerical data from experiments. \nSummarizes findings by computer readouts, statistical summaries, graphs and other methods. \nRequires confidence in using Microsoft Word and Excel tools. \nRequires Enthusiasm, motivation, initiative and ability to work within an interactive and energetic workplace. \nReview process procedures, change orders, equipment specifications, validation plans, and reports. \nPerforms market research on relevant topics. \nQualifications\nMinimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:\nCurrently pursuing B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent with a minimum of 2 college semesters complete.\nAbility to multitask.\nThe hourly range for this role is $22/hr to $30/hr.
