Works under the general direction of a Program Manager or Director of Programs. Plans and manages small to mid-size product development projects or plans and manages a major sub-project within a large multi-functional product development program. The position requires enthusiastic leadership skills in a highly technical medical instrument product development environment. The individual is required to lead strong technical engineers and scientists to achieve project goals. The position requires regular interaction with project team members and senior management including regularly interfacing with all levels of the organization from technician through executive management.\nResponsibilities\nKey Accountabilities:\nEssential Functions:\nTechnical and Project Leadership:Provide technical and team leadership to one or more small project team(s), including planning, scheduling, and technical leadership within the project area. Drive the integration of activities between functions.\n\nProject Planning and Scheduling:Responsible for project planning and scheduling utilizing deliverable milestone methods and critical path scheduling, and developing task and project estimates. Coordinate roles and responsibilities within the project team. At the Program Manager's or Director’s request provide a schedule and budget forecast for the project.\n\nProject Execution and Control:Responsible for conducting regular project team status meetings and reviews. Plan and schedule technical reviews at appropriate project milestones. Ensures deliverables are completed and documented.\n\nAgile Project Management (if applicable):Coordinate with Scrum Masters on Sprint forecasts. Track deliverables status from Sprint Demos.\n\nProblem Solving Leadership:Responsible for coordination of project resources to identify the root cause(s) of project issues, and develop and manage a plan to fix, test, and implement an appropriate solution through completion.\n\nRisk Management:Responsible for ensuring project risks, both technical risks and management risks, are identified and appropriate risk mitigation plans are developed and executed. Track and respond to risk triggers. Regularly assess and report the status of overall project risk.\n\nDesign Control:Creates and maintains file to current phase ensuring accuracy.\n\nCommunication: Responsible for communication within the project team and to program management and upper management. Develop and implement a project communication plan.\nVendor Management:Coordinates with vendors and outside service suppliers to ensure project deliverables are completed correctly and on time or that services are provided in accordance with the project plan.\n\nCross Department Collaboration:Participates in discussions with commercial functions (operations, regulatory, distribution, customer support, marketing, sales, service, affiliates, etc.) through established communication channels to support on market changes and/or new product introduction.\n\nConflict Resolution:Able to identify and obtain support to resolve project team conflict. Able to remove oneself from the problem. Fosters a creative, professional climate that will maximize the contributions of the technical staff.\n\nSecondary Functions:\nProject/Program Initiatives:Participates in activities focused on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the product development processes and procedures.\n\nNetworking/Key Relationships:\nTo be determined based on department needs, to include interactions such as:\nCoordination of review of documentation with Quality and Regulatory disciplines\nCommunication of product changes with Manufacturing / Operations disciplines\nCommunication of plans and status of projects with Marketing disciplines\nQualifications\nMinimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:\nBS in STEM is preferred\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in product development or project management\nExperience in design and development of medical instrumentation desirable\nCertification in project management is desired \nSkills & Capabilities:\nProblem-solving, conflict management, listening, managing and measuring work\nStrong project management skill set and familiarity with project management tools and techniques\nTeam player, self-motivated, perseverance\nStrong oral and written skills\nWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Design Control\nTravel Requirements:\nLess than 10% of the time. \nThe annual base salary range for this role is currently $110,000 to $135,000. Individual employee compensation will ultimately depend on factors including education, relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, and particular business needs.\nThis role is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan retirement benefits with an employer match, as well as paid vacation and sick leave.
