The NCGM is a new 80,000 square foot national museum in New London, Connecticut, built to honor the history and missions of the U.S. Coast Guard and expected to welcome roughly 300,000 visitors a year. In this role, you will manage daily delivery of education programs in the STEM/Mission Center and Innovation Lab and implement Government approved K through 12 and adult educational programs. You will supervise Education Program Assistants and volunteers, coordinate incoming school field trips and group flow, and manage educational materials within approved supply limits. We can offer a competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package.\nApply today!\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nImplements Government approved K through 12 and adult educational programs and recommends improvements for Government review.\nManages daily education delivery in the STEM/Mission Center and Innovation Lab, overseeing sessions led by Education Program Assistants and volunteers and providing coaching, feedback, and quality control.\nActs as the operational coordinator for incoming school field trips, coordinating schedules, greeting classes, and managing group flow.\nManages setup, safety, inventory, and use of educational materials within approved funding and supply limits.\nWorks with the Volunteer Manager to train docents and volunteers to assist in executing STEM and history programs.\nBACKGROUND/REQUIRED EXPERIENCE\nBachelor's degree in education, museum studies, public history, or a STEM discipline.\nFour (4) to six (6) years of progressive experience in museum education, curriculum development, or education program administration.\nProven ability to interact professionally with school administrators, community groups, and military liaisons.\nSchedule flexibility to oversee educational programs during weekends, school breaks, and special evening events.\nSuccess coordinating field trips and educational programs with regional school districts, homeschool networks, and community groups.\nDeep knowledge of curriculum frameworks such as Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and translating them into hands on museum lessons.\nExperience supervising and mentoring instructional staff, tracking schedules, and managing educational supplies.\nExperience executing mobile or offsite education initiatives targeting diverse or remote school groups.\nHIGHLY DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE\nMaster's degree in education, museum studies, public history, or a STEM discipline.\nGeneral knowledge of USCG history, search and rescue, and marine science missions.\nFamiliarity with learning tools, science labs, and interactive maker spaces.\nLOCATION\nNew London, Connecticut - National Coast Guard Museum\nCLEARANCE\nMust be a U.S. citizen\nMust pass a federal background investigation and meet facility and system access requirements\nCLIENT\nUnited States Coast Guard - National Coast Guard Museum\nHOURS\n40 hours per week. 8 hours per day \nEMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION\nEmployment Classification Eligibility - W2\nCOMPENSATION\nSalary range: $80,000 - $85,000\nBenefits: Benefits package includes options for health, dental, and vision insurance coverage; 401k contribution options.
