From day one at West Monroe, our people have the opportunity to make a meaningful, hands-on impact for their clients while growing their careers through focused professional development and continuous learning.\nThis role must be located in New York City or the tri-state area.\nWhat Will You Be Doing?\nClient Delivery\nServe as a subject matter expert (SME) and solution architect on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies, guiding client stakeholders through design decisions, tradeoffs, and migration strategies.\nCompare and contrast Azure, AWS, and GCP capabilities (cost, performance, compliance, analytics/AI) to support informed decision-making.\nLead the architecture, design, and migration approach for client workloads into GCP, including hybrid and multi-cloud scenarios.\nLead the greenfield build of modern data platforms that enable analytics, AI, and agentic solutions on GCP by developing architectures that leverage GCP services to support use case specific requirements.\nUnderstand key differences and overlap in modern data platform capabilities when considering Databricks to complement Google Cloud solutions\nLead platform cost modeling to provide guidance on O&M budgeting and oversee efforts to identify and capture cost savings in existing capabilities\nCollaborate with data engineers, developers, and business SMEs to ensure architecture aligns with business goals and regulatory requirements.\nProvide hands-on technical guidance on cloud-native services (BigQuery, BigTable, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Looker, Vertex AI, etc.) as well as security, networking, and governance.\nUnderstand the connection between data governance, data engineering, analytics/AI, and agentic solutions from a holistic delivery perspective.\nAct as a trusted advisor to client leadership, driving alignment across business and IT stakeholders.\nLeverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesize complex information, and support data-driven recommendations for clients, exercising judgment in evaluating outputs.\nApply AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data models) to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate the quality of client outcomes.\nPractice Development\nContribute to the Energy & Utilities practice and Technology & Experience Discipline by developing methodologies, accelerators, and best practices for GCP adoption in regulated utility environments.\nPromote thought leadership around cloud modernization, data platforms, and AI/ML use cases enabled by GCP.\nMentor junior team members and foster a collaborative, learning-oriented culture within West Monroe.\nBusiness Development\nPartner with account teams to understand business needs and shape them into technical roadmaps, proposals, and solutions.\nContribute to client pursuits as a GCP SME, including crafting architecture options, estimates, and risk assessments.\nBuild and maintain a professional network in the utilities and cloud ecosystems, strengthening West Monroe’s reputation in the market.\nRequirements:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (advanced degrees a plus).\n8+ years of work experience, including at least 3+ years designing and implementing cloud solutions on GCP.\nStrong understanding of cloud data and analytics architectures, including batch and streaming data pipelines, data warehouses (BigQuery), and AI/ML services (Vertex AI, Agentspace).\nExperience with Azure cloud services and Databricks platform, ability to objectively evaluate Azure vs. GCP tradeoffs inclusive of Databricks deployments\nProven success leading large-scale cloud migrations or platform builds (design through implementation).\nFamiliarity with regulatory/compliance frameworks relevant to utilities (e.g., NERC CIP, data residency, security standards).\nPossess at least one Google Cloud Professional certification: Data Engineer, Cloud Database Engineer, Cloud Architect, Machine Learning Engineer\nStrong communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders.\nAbility to document technical architectures and explain approach and rational to technical resources.\nDemonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.\nWillingness to travel to client sites as needed (up to 50-75% annually).\nExperience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs. \nNice to have:\nExperience working with large, regulated utilities (familiarity with NERC CIP, PSC, and related compliance requirements).\nDatabricks certification (e.g., Data Engineer Associate/Professional, Machine Learning Associate/Professional).\nBased on pay transparency guidelines, the salary range for this role can vary based on your proximity to one of our West Monroe offices (see table below).
